Rhiannon Thomas's dazzling debut novel is a spellbinding reimagining of what happens after happily ever after. Vividly imagined scenes of action, romance, and political intrigue are seamlessly woven together to reveal a richly created world . . . and Sleeping Beauty as she's never been seen before.

One hundred years after falling asleep, Princess Aurora wakes up to the kiss of a handsome prince and a broken kingdom that has been dreaming of her return. All the books say that she should be living happily ever after. But as Aurora understands all too well, the truth is nothing like the fairy tale.

Her family is long dead. Her "true love" is a kind stranger. And her whole life has been planned out by political foes while she slept.

As Aurora struggles to make sense of her new world, she begins to fear that the curse has left its mark on her, a fiery and dangerous thing that might be as wicked as the witch who once ensnared her. With her wedding day drawing near, Aurora must make the ultimate decision on how to save her kingdom: marry the prince or run.

Customer Reviews of A Wicked Thing

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the most Exciting Re-Telling, but definitely some aspects that make it worth the read. Have you ever wondered what happens after True Loves Kiss, and the spell being broken finally? This novel is a story of what happens to Princess Aurora after she is awoken after 100 or so years of being asleep due to the witches curse. This novel is not very long, and I read it in one sitting. I will say the plot was very slow moving and not a lot really happened with in the pages. But I think what I found most intriguing about this novel was after waking up, how would I react, knowing everything you ever knew is now gone. I really like Aurora, I thought she was a very authentic character given the circumstances. I really did not enjoy there possibly being 3 love interests...that's just way too many and very silly in my opinion. I will continue on and read the following novel to find out what sort of shenanigans Princess Aurora gets involved with. I honestly really love Finnegan because he is complex and so much more than I think is shown within the first novel. And Isabelle is very sweet and innocent, and I really like the scenes were Rodrick is being the best big brother to his sister. OH and I really hope to see Dragons in the second book.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was alright I always love picking up fairy tale retellings, as I love seeing the unique spin that authors are able to put on the classic stories. While I was definitely looking forward to reading this one, it ended up being a tad lackluster in my opinion as I found it dragged quite a bit. Still a pretty decent read that definitely put it's own spin on the classic tale of Sleeping Beauty, but it's for sure not my favorite retelling.
