In this intimate memoir of life beyond the camera, Connor Franta shares the lessons he has learned on his journey from small-town boy to Internet sensation—so far. Here, Connor offers a look at his Midwestern upbringing as one of four children in the home and one of five in the classroom; his struggles with identity, body image, and sexuality in his teen years; and his decision to finally pursue his creative and artistic passions in his early twenties, setting up his thrilling career as a YouTube personality, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and tastemaker.

Exploring his past with insight and humor, his present with humility, and his future with hope, Connor reveals his private struggles while providing heartfelt words of wisdom for young adults. His words will resonate with anyone coming of age in the digital era, but at the core is a timeless message for people of all ages: don’t be afraid to be yourself and to go after what you truly want.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect surface view of Connor Franta's life Without delving into the specifics of his life, Connor managed to enlighten me with a great and interesting memoir. It was, as he is, very artistic. I love how there are beautiful picture in it, and how beautiful the conception of it is.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to Read, Unrelatable, but also it bears Important Life-Lessons for the Future I read this book because I was interested in Connor Franta's life as a YouTuber, and it was prett good. First of all, I do not like memoirs or biographies in general, so the fact that I picked up the book was a compliment, I'll give him that. Also, I thought the memoir was very educational as it talked about important life lessons that he has learned at his age, and how he went through high school (his teenage years) and also some big important life lessons, that can help audiences through reading it. However, there are some dark times so I would beware and overall, I thought it was a bit too revealing and a little too simple to be called a memoir. Therefore, I would recommend it to readers who are interested in this Youtuber's background and childhood, or if you are looking to read about a successful Youtuber, in hopes of becoming successful like him, but if you do not want to explore deep topics, I would not open it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Take Off What a great start to Connor's writing career.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Interesting Look into Connor's Life I really enjoyed exploring more of Connor's past and experiences growing up. It's not the next in timeless literature, and Connor isn't the next great philosopher, but I didn't expect that anyway. But he has gone through a lot of things that many of us go through, and expresses his own take on things. Sometimes that's by sharing a funny story, sometimes that's by offering a very insightful quip or idea, and sometimes it's done through the aesthetically pleasing photos throughout. The book itself is very much a reflection of who he is, and I loved it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well done I was not expecting too much when I read this book due to the fact that most Youtuber books I have read resulted in some disappointment however this one was different. I have been watching Connor Franta's videos for years and I support everything he does, including this book. Sure, it's not an amazing piece of literature that I am going to go and recommend to everyone I meet but it was very entertaining and a great look into Connor's life. I am not too sure how much someone would get out of it if they have not been watching Connor's channel but that does not mean that you shouldn't give it a try. I really loved this book and I think that Connor is a huge role model for the kids of this generation. Would definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So Relatable! I haven’t watched Connor’s videos but picked this up because he is my age. I want to see what he has to say about his life so far, along with how beautiful the book is packaged together with amazing photography. As one of his previous videos is titled, this book was ‘so relatable’ for me. My favourite chapter was Creativity and throughout the book, I’m sure someone will be just as inspired by his story.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Getting to Know Myself A Work In Progress by Connor Franta is a thoughtfully good read & regular reminder to get up & do something, but not just with one palpable prompt, like an unexpected fap upside-the-head, but more than a few times & in a worthy way, like perpetual positive reinforcement. Connor’s book, aka AWIP ~ A Memoir is short & sweet, but packed to the brim with loads of good advice & insight from such a young man ~ not so much older than the 20-year day-job I recently quit & am now glad I did, in order to pursue my dream of being a full-time writer, as Connor would agree, ‘...you can make “now” the place you want to be.’  ‘Take a breath. Take a chance.’  ‘Regret is ignoring a path you should have taken.’  ‘Sometimes you just have to leap & have faith in yourself.’  ‘Own it. Own every aspect of who you are and present it to the world with the utmost pride.’ I think Connor is some kind of guru or at least, a very old soul who has returned in this life to finish the journey he neglected on some level in his last life & he’s determined to be off & running, which is a great start to any profound & faithful story! I wish I would’a, could’a, should’a done half the things at his age ~ I heard & read about that Connor has accomplished in just 22 years. I can’t imagine what else he’s got up his sleeve & I will try to stick around as long as I can, just to follow his lead, by example, or maybe I should say, subscribe to his stellar standard of determination. I also like how Connor shared his early years in the homespun apple orchards of Minnesota, with some trials & tribulations of his youth, which helped me, understand on some level of half-remembered memories of just what & exactly how he chose to deal with everything & what he now believes to be true because of those debilitating experiences. But the best drive-thru advice he gives when leaving any town USA ~ as the most prominent one he satirically nicknames ‘the town of confusion’ ~ is to keep moving forward until you find your way! I’m glad I decided to read this very successful Vlogger’s book of secrets & as a result have a tremendous amount of respect for Connor Franta, who felt subsequently obliged or candidly pressured by a curious but fearful society to make-public his personal stats, which he really shouldn’t have had to do, but I’m glad he decided instead to share so much private information, partly for my inquisitive progression & half-full quiver, as well as for all the kids at-risk in the world who need a commendable role model, to kick-start their sometimes scared lives from idle into 1st gear! Still, Connor downplays the requisite identity issue by saying, ‘...this story isn’t about sexuality. It’s about overcoming our biggest fears.’ And honesty is still the best policy, Connor & I give you an A+ on your thesis about essential self-discovery & your sublime subjective perspective ~ in your own words, ‘the way I see the world. Nice! ‘So what are you waiting for? Go. Get started.’ 1 of 5 (readers, that is) – Jack Dunsmoor, author of the book, OK2BG

Rated 1 out of 5 by from expected much more I bought this book after reading Joey Graceffa's book with high hopes. To start things off, I am a fan of Connors videos, but when comparing books Joey Graceffa's is truly more inspirational. Connor's book is filled with essays that looked like a high schooler had written them, truly disappointing. I honestly would have thought different, but after getting through 3/4 of the book I physically couldn't bare myself to read anymore. A disappointing waste of 20$. If you want a good read I suggest reconsidering Joey Graceffas book "In Real Life, My Journey To A Pixelated World" it is truly awe inspiring and all around an amazing read. Regarding Connor's book, don't waste your time, or money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life Changing I read this book over a month ago and oh my goodness, I am absolutely in love with it. I personally love Connor Franta to death, and when I found out he was writing a book, I ordered it the first day I knew. Let me tell you, although this sounds cliché, A Work In Progress changed my life!! I could personally relate to some of the things he talked about like body image, sexuality, creativity etc. I cannot pick a favourite chapter because the book as a whole helped me through A LOT of issues that I currently am going through and some that are in my near future. Connor gave some advice that has stuck with me ever since I read the book, and that will stick with me for the rest of my life. It was such an inspirational and well written book, and his photography that is featured in it is spectacular. Also, the way it was written, it was like he was in front of me, reading the book. It felt like I was having a conversation with him, and that genuineness made it even easier to relate to. I give it all of the stars and all of the thumbs up. I recommend it to anyone.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good read It's not the bible as some people seem to treat it, but it's well written and could help some people to live a more quality life. Also, anyone who can make millions of teenagers sit and read a well written book instead of spending their time on Twitter deserves my respect.
