about

The Beauty and the Beast legend has a universal appeal; the tale exists in numerous versions throughout the world. After all of its ups and downs, Disney's Beauty and the Beast was released in 1991 to rave reviews and record-breaking business. The film was widely hailed as a technical and aesthetic breakthrough. It was the first of only three animated features ever to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture. Its success has since spun into a smash Broadway musical adaptation, intricately detailed environments at Walt Disney World, and soon a live-action movie musical directed by Bill Condon. This authoritative book features interviews with artists, producers, directors, writers, actors, and more from the various beloved installments-making it a treasure trove of delights for fans of the tale as old as time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from meh The book is beautiful. The images and story are all so beautiful. Everything is perfect about it- EXCEPT if you are looking to keep this item in good condition, as a collectors item, or just love art books- I highly suggest you go find this in person instead of ordering online. Reason being, the cover has a matte finishing. Which- if handled with greasy/oily fingerprints- leave glossy fingerprints and stains on the cover. I ordered this for my sister for her birthday- it was perfect until I looked at the cover. She loves books, collects them, and keeps them in good condition. The fingerprints all over this cover made it look awful- so I returned it, asking if I could exchange it for one that was handled properly- without stains. Got a second book.... same thing. Fingerprints all over the cover. We tried removing it with water and nothing got it off. I work as a framer and deal with conserving things that are dirty, and there was nothing I could do for this. So both books were returned.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh They've published this book before after the animated version and re-released it with a couple of pages at the back to accommodate the movie. Only worth buying if you haven't seen or own the previous edition

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful as it's title If you love Disney then you will love this book of course you also have to love/like Beauty and the Beast as this book is all about that. It goes back to the origins and is very informative on where the story begins and how so many other love stories fall into the same category. I will not go into too much detail, so not to spoil but the quality and graphics are worth every penny I spent. By the way thou I did skip the first chapter as it was about the new release and I did not want to spoil it for myself but will go back after i see the movie. If you are thinking about getting this book I would do it soon as I find the D23 books go quickly and if you are like me can not get to a Park any time soon to get them.
