The explosive third novel in James S.A. Corey'sNew York Timesbestselling Expanse series. Now a major television series!

For generations, the solar system -- Mars, the Moon, the Asteroid Belt -- was humanity's great frontier. Until now. The alien artifact working through its program under the clouds of Venus has appeared in Uranus's orbit, where it has built a massive gate that leads to a starless dark.

Jim Holden and the crew of theRocinanteare part of a vast flotilla of scientific and military ships going out to examine the artifact. But behind the scenes, a complex plot is unfolding, with the destruction of Holden at its core. As the emissaries of the human race try to find whether the gate is an opportunity or a threat, the greatest danger is the one they brought with them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from an OK book in the series - IMO too religious This was my least favourite book in the -- so far 7 book series -- I found to far to religiously themed, this may float some peoples boats, but it just didn't do it for me. I found myself putting down this book and reading others and eventually coming back to it when I was bored and out of other reading materials..... a stark contrast to the other 6 books in this series, all of which I COULDNT PUT DOWN Still this is a great series and every SCI-FI fan should most definitley check it out The most positive thing about this book was it REALLY made me want to pickup the next one, perhaps in hopes it would be better and less relgiously themed... (which it was(

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good versus Bad Enjoyed the book but the divide between the good characters and the bad ones is a little too obvious. Plot is good and the book holds ones attention throughout. Enjoyed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Consistently Great This series never ceases to amaze me. I didn't even realize how attached I am to the characters until I started worrying about them. Which sounds silly but its a sign of good character development.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Truly excellent Thumpingly good book. Cinematic epic and still nuanced in it's character relationships and themes. One of my favourite books of last year. Looking forward to more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Sci-Fi story! The Short: If you've read the first two book in the series, pick this up. If you haven't read the first two book in the series, go pick them up and then pick this up. The Long: Abaddon's Gate does a wonderful job of providing a lot of satisfying conclusion to a lot of questions raised throughout the first two books in the series (Leviathan Wakes and Caliban's War). Abaddon's Gate is fun action packed sci-fi series of the near future. This is a world that we might reach given a century or two in time. James S. A. Corey does a wonderful job of creating characters you care about and can relate to. The multiple view points provide a proud range of the action as well as the mind set. It is a big action sci-fi movie in a book.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not bad, but not great This was the weakest Expanse novel so far. It was a pity to see such a cartoony antagonist in one of Corey's books.
