Rated 5 out of 5 by from Timeless Darwyn Cooke's style of drawing is just timeless and is an instant classic once you see it. With New Frontier, he is both writer and illustrator and he pulls it off magnificently. This book just has a great sense of optimism to it that really evokes the classic DC stories. All of this is magnified in the Absolute format as you get to see it on these large oversized pages. As far as pricing goes, this is actually on the low end for Absolutes so the value is pretty decent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Some of the Most Memorable scenes in Comics, I must say this is my favorite graphic of all time. Some of the visuals Mr.Cooke depicts will stay with you forever. There is nothing I can say negative about this book, but I will say that may be matter of taste. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this book, it is told from a classic 60s perspective. Set in Cold Was America it challenges social beliefs we hope have been extinct for a least a couple of generations. This may not appeal to those readers who are looking soley for action from cover to cover with quick one liners throughout. I tend not to think of this book as a comic. I tend to think of it as one of the best examples of modern fiction in the past 25 years. The absolute ed. would be the one to buy as well. Why buy 2 trades for $30+ when for an extra $20 you get a conversation peice that you will hall out time and time again. If you are fortunate enough to live in Nova Scotia you can most likely get this signed by the man himself. He lives somewhere nearby and usually makes an appearance at one of the local comics stores once a year, usually around Christmas.
