Rated 5 out of 5 by from serious twist I enjoyed Affliction. I really like the Anita Blake Books and own them all. Affliction was very serious and yet had a humorous twist that throws Anita and Micah for a loop.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great It was a nice change that there was more plot and story then sex in this latest book. With the power levels that have been achieved it is difficult to see where the character growth can go. The comment about her 'EE' sized boobs though was a little over the top. With all of that I look forward to the next book as long as it can be about zombie-magic-vampires rather than group sex.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes I am glad that I pushed through and stuck with the series. The wait was worth the book. Of course, ANYTHING Edward and I'm a happy camper. They get along so well and he's such a tough, cool guy. Even if there are police scenes where Anita is getting picked on by the threatened-jealous cops, I always feel confident and all happy with Edward there and backing her and her rep up. So glad the series had some action back in it :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sveet The twists! I never expect them! And once again Edward is such an awesome character, he's my favourite. Closely followed by the Wicked Truth, and, of course, the vampire King of Awesome, and sweet sweet Micah and Nathaniel! Aaaaand now I'm fan-girling. :) I look forward to reading more. Waiting with bated breath and all that jazz.

Read from the Book

MY GUN WAS digging into my back, so I shifted forward in my office chair. That was better; now it was just the comforting pressure of the inner-skirt holster, tucked away underneath my short royal blue suit jacket. I’d stopped wearing my shoulder holster except when I was on an active warrant as a U.S. Marshal. When I was working at Animators Inc. and seeing clients, the behind-the-back holster was less likely to flash and make them nervous. You’d think if someone was asking me to raise the dead for them that they’d have better nerves, but guns seemed to scare them a lot more than talking about zombies. It was different once the zombie was raised and they were looking at the walking dead; then suddenly the guns didn’t bother them nearly as much, but until that Halloweenesque moment I tried to keep the weapons out of sight. There was a knock on my office door and Mary, our daytime receptionist, opened it without my saying Come in, which she’d never done in the six years we’d been working together, so I wasn’t grumpy about the interruption. I just looked up from double-checking my client meetings to make sure there wouldn’t be any overlap issues and knew something was up, and knowing Mary it would be important. She was like that. She’d finally let her hair go gray, but it was still in the same obviously artificial hairdo that it had always been. She’d let herself get a little plump as she neared sixty and had finally embraced glasses full time. The combination of it all had aged
