From bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater, a gripping tale of darkness, miracles, and family.

Here is a thing everyone wants:
A miracle.

Here is a thing everyone fears:
What it takes to get one.

Any visitor to Bicho Raro, Colorado is likely to find a landscape of dark saints, forbidden love, scientific dreams, miracle-mad owls, estranged affections, one or two orphans, and a sky full of watchful desert stars.

At the heart of this place you will find the Soria family, who all have the ability to perform unusual miracles. And at the heart of this family are three cousins longing to change its future: Beatriz, the girl without feelings, who wants only to be free to examine her thoughts; Daniel, the Saint of Bicho Raro, who performs miracles for everyone but himself; and Joaquin, who spends his nights running a renegade radio station under the name Diablo Diablo.

They are all looking for a miracle. But the miracles of Bicho Raro are never quite what you expect.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Confused I read this a couple of months ago and I still don't actually know how I feel about it. I love the writing style as I always do with Maggie Stiefvater, but I don't think I feel very connected to the story, I found it to be a bit confusing. I would still recommend reading it if you like the authors work, you may enjoy it more than I did. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Completely Unique All the characters and the storyline were so different from the Raven Cycle, yet at the same time her signature every-line-is-artwork writing style is no less present. Amazing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely Story It starts out in a way that you have no idea what to expect and no idea where it's going. But it all comes together in the end. It's a beautiful story.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ok Great book, the introduction of some characters and the setting was fantastic and I enjoy the way it's been written out in the book

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as immersive as her other work... This book is beautiful, but I didn't find it to be as magical and whimsical and engrossing as either the Wolves of Mercy Falls books or the Raven Cycle. The omniscient narration and multitude of characters made it challenging to keep up, and I found I didn't connect with them in any meaningful way. Maggie is still my favourite author, but this one is not one of my favourite reads.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mystical *I receive a ARC from this, my review is for the pre-edited version and not the final copy* I admit, I was a bit biased in a way that I'm already a big fan of Maggie, but I loved every bit of this book. The world, the magic realism, you really immerse in the family and the characters are each of them amazing. If you love magic, sands and owl, this is for you.
