On the backs of their magnificent telepathic dragons they flew to flame the deadly stuff out of the air before it could reach the planet's surface. But the greatest dream of the dragonriders was to find a way to eradicate Thread completely, so that never again would their beloved Pern be threatened with destruction.

Now, for the first time, it looks as if that dream can come true. Rated 5 out of 5 by from The end of Thread One of the best installments in this series. Kept me on the edge of my seat! Beyond the intricate character development common to McCaffrey's books, I loved the science incorporated into this book! Whether it is accurate or not I don't know, but I like how the people of Pern are rediscovering the lost disciplines of humanity. How they got rid of Thread still makes me smile!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best of the Series Well, I've read all the dragon series, and this by far is the best. All the pieces of the series fit together after reading this book. I don't want to wreck anything, but you have to read the previous books of the Dragon Riders first.
