Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure what to say This book has me throughly perplexed. It was an interesting end to the series. I felt that it was quite slow until the end though

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great series! All 3 books are great, the ending is very different than the move and totally worth the read!
Date published: 2018-02-24
Rated 5 out of 5 by from NAILED IT! I loved this book! I finished it in a day (for me I can usually finish a book in a weekend if I'm really into it). This one - I literally had it in hand while I was making dinner! I could not put it down if my life depended on it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing!! The whole time I was wondering why two perspectives for this book. I got my answer.
Date published: 2018-02-13
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Must finish the whole thing! This book is much slower than the first two, but the ending is important, powerful, and so worth it. Roth ended the saga beautifully, and the messages will always stick with me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh This book wasn't a spectacular display of writing skills or creativity. Although it was a quick and enjoyable read, it's not something I would reread. The initial intrigue has faded.
Date published: 2018-02-01
Rated 3 out of 5 by from The mediocrity continues and ends I didn't have a problem with the way this series ended, even though I know a lot of people did! I thought it was a pretty exciting book, although slow at parts. I enjoyed this the same way I enjoyed the other two: I read it super quickly, and enjoyed it while I was reading, although it wasn't anything spectacular in terms of characters or writing. Still enjoyable, and I series I would reread in the future when I want to read something quick, fun, and easy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ok A friend recommended this to me, and it was wonderful!
Date published: 2018-01-10
Rated 4 out of 5 by from good this book is on par with the second in this series, not the best but it did make me cry!
Date published: 2018-01-04
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as great as the first two Unless you really loved Insurgent, I'm not sure this one was as good as that. Hard to keep going, story got somewhat repetitive but overall it was a nice series
Date published: 2018-01-02
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The most painful book I've read many, many, many novels and not one has made me cry nearly as much as this! No spoilers, but if you're planning on reading this, grab your tissue box!
Date published: 2018-01-01
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not enjoy The first book was great, second was nice, but this one I did not enjoy. I couldn't finish it because of where the plot was going, I found myself rolling my eyes and putting it aside. I would not put time into picking this up

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Ending Perfect wrap up to a great series -- extremely unfortunate that they did not continue making the movies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good read but... Liked how a lot of lingering questions were answered in the book ... just disappointed with the ending #Plumreview
Date published: 2017-12-10
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent ending, but series went downhill for me Considering how hyped up I was for Allegiant, I must say I'm kinda disappointed. The first half of the book was slow plot wise to me but the ending was interesting... It's bittersweet to say goodbye to the Divergent series. The themes of love and forgiveness and life and moving on were all very well presented and written. Overall I've really enjoyed the series although it went downhill for me, it is still memorable and enjoyable.
Date published: 2017-12-08
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fine, not great Riding in with the tide of YA Dystopian popularity, it's no big surprise that Divergent got as famous as it did. Unfortunately, there isn't much left to the series once the hype and marketing died down. The futuristic society is arranged more as a philosophical thought experiment than as something realistic, but it's the kiddie version of philosophy - "what if we defined people's personalities based on a single trait?" Even that much is forgivable, but the series loses its focus after the first book, and becomes downright silly by the third. A passable read, but not worth seeking out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from be happy with Insurgent. My advice for anyone reading this is to not get emotionally attached to anyone. It was great until the last hundred or so pages, not going to say what happens but if you are emotional run away now and just be happy with Insurgent.
Date published: 2017-10-27
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Eh It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be from what I had heard, but I was quite disappointed with the ending of the book.
Date published: 2017-10-20
Rated 4 out of 5 by from ???? I hated the ending, and loved it so much at the same time. I think doing *that* was a little extreme, but it also made a lot of sense. It's bittersweet at the end of the day, but I really enjoyed this book, and taking it outside the borders of the other two, literally, gave a fresh and old take for the last book of the series. Enjoyed the series a lot. 8/10

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good way to end the trilogy I may have gotten spoiled about the ending while reading Allegiant, but I was kinda disappointed on HOW everything happened. Anyways, I personally loved the way how everything wrapped up. This series will always have a place in my heart.
Date published: 2017-09-05
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Still worth reading After investing in the first two books of the series you need to know the ending. Slightly disappointing in comparison to the other two novels.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from ... Why Veronica Roth ? WHY ? Very disappointing
Date published: 2017-08-25
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well Then I knew something was up when I opened this third installment to the divergent trilogy. The first to books were written in first person, so when I started reading this one and found out it was a split perspective I was suspicious. Still a great ending but was definitely a shock that few authors would attempt to do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best in the Series This one was my favourite of the three - I liked seeing the characters out of their element, getting to know more about the world that they're in, etc. Great - though very emotional - way to end the series!
Date published: 2017-08-15
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh This was the slowest book of the trilogy. It wasn't bad, but it needed to be more eventful for the last book in the trilogy. I didn't mind the ending, but it was slightly disappointing
Date published: 2017-07-19
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth finishing it off I read this book really early on before all the spoilers. If you're reading this then you've probably already heard about how Tris dies in this book. I would recommend finishing it off if you've already started the series because it is worth the read. This was personally my favorite book in the series, Although after a while I started to find the series a little cheesy. All in all, if you've made it this far, just get the book.
Date published: 2017-07-18
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost as good as the rest I was very excited to read the third and final book in the series, thinking that since the last two were good this one would be too. It was a good read and the ending is a shocker! I have read and re-read the series almost 5 times and still love it, enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved this series!! I loved the trilogy so even if this one wasn't the best of all of them it is part of it. No regrets at all!
Date published: 2017-05-29
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lost me This book is where I lost my interest in the series. I knew from the first sentence what was bound to happen, which did not motivate me to keep reading.
Date published: 2017-05-23
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Spoilers included I found this to be the worst book in the trilogy. I thought that it was a random societal portrait in that the characters we love are living in a governmental experiment. In part, I think I was so against this turn in the plot because it felt rushed. Furthermore, I think that the death of Tris was not at all justified. Yes, it was heroic that she died for her brother and idealistic beliefs, but I don't think that it added to the story or made her more of a hero than she already was. Overall, it was well written, but I did not buy into the entire of this book as I did with the previous two novels.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok I did not like the ending to this trilogy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Liked a lot I got to say that I actually quite enjoyed this book, it was better than the second one but still not quite as good as the first. I can see why some people wouldn't like where the plot takes us, but although jarring at first it was very refreshing to see something so different. Kudos to Veronica Roth for exploring this kind of idea and giving us a look into the reactions of characters when put in this situation. It was slow at times but I could overlook that and jump to the plot parts that interested me.
Date published: 2017-05-18
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good read I liked the book up until the ending, I found it just didn't fit, and was just upsetting. I wish the last book would have offered more closure. But overall the book was a good one, just don't read it if your not in the mood for a good cry.
Date published: 2017-05-12
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Allegiant Tris and Four’s POV’s were a little too similar in the beginning as far as voice/language though I felt like that improved as it went along. I didn’t have the massive issues with this ending that a lot of readers seemed to, maybe it helped that I read it long after the hype died down, and also the big moment had been spoiled for me, so it’s not like that blindsided me the way it probably did those who read this when it first came out. #plumreview

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Was okay only Was an okay read, only because I wanted to finish the series. It was all right, but all of it kind of felt old already. The same old relationship and friendship problems with the same old sacrifices and dilemmas.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Such a good read! This book had some absolutely riveting, emotional moments. The new dimensions explored in the relationships were impactful. There were some serious plot twists and heartbreaking scenes. At some points it wasn't the most exciting read, but stick with it and you'll get to experience some really shocking, captivating scenes!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overhyped... World Building: ok /Characters: meh /Romance: yeah /Pace: not great /Feels: a few yeah /Able to put down: definitely /Worth the read: I just read it cause I wanted to know how it would end but else than that it's not really worth it...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A really good ending A good conclusion to the series, and not predictable
Date published: 2017-04-19
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good captivating read I liked how the author wrote this book in both Tris and Tobias' view points (which makes sense at the end). I wasn't keen on that at first, but it was nice to see through Tobias' eyes as well. The story line had me reading and wanting more. The ending, came as shock and was not what I expecting, nor liked, but I guess that's the authors point of view. I like, in a sense that is not your fairy tale ending though. I would recommend this series to read. The movies, however I don't.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not as great as the others I loved the books in this series, but this one was written differently and was not as enthralling as the others. I finally pushed myself to finish it and in the end there's a reason why it's done differently, but it just wasn't as good as the others and I was very disappointed especially since the other books had built this one up so well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great book Really good book with a very emotional ending. :(
Date published: 2017-03-31
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing I thought that this book might be boring , because it is the third in the siries, but I was wrong, it turned out to be one of the best in the series.
Date published: 2017-03-29
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book is emotional Not writing any spoilers (but if you haven't read this yet... you should, like yesterday) This book will make you cry... I did. It definitely has a HUGE plot twist.
Date published: 2017-03-29
Rated 3 out of 5 by from A bit better. I loved Divergent, and I wasn't a fan of Insurgent and this one fell a bit flat as well, but I liked it better than Insurgent. The twist was something I really liked, and it really made the whole story more interesting for me. I was not a fan of the end however. Since I found Insurgent to be a weak followup, and I didn't find this one to be much better, I'd say to just stop after Divergent.
Date published: 2017-03-25
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyed it I liked this one very much. It ended the series well and didnt end how I expected it to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Loving It I really didn't care for this book at all. I honestly think the series should have stopped at the first book. I didn't like anything after that. #plumreview

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as good as the first 2 books This was the weakest of the three books, I lost interest about half way through. I wasn't happy about the end of the book.

Date published: 2017-03-10
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good! I enjoyed this book quite a bit, and the end was sad but it was the right ending for this series. Loved it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay This last book is not as good as the first two but still worth reading.
Date published: 2017-03-09
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointing Honestly, after the first two books I was really disappointed with how Roth decided to end this series. It definitely took me by surprise and it just wasn't the kind of ending I like. That being said, I'd still recommend it because what are you going to do? Not finish the series?! #plumreview
Date published: 2017-03-08
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Shocking Still a good book but not as good as the other two. What is revealed is simply shocking though and worth the read. Quite the concept behind this series!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from good Not as good as the first two, but still worth a read. Concludes the trilogy in an interesting way not often seen in YA novels.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wait, what? I couldn't believe that a certain someone died at the end of the of the book.
Date published: 2017-02-26
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Captivating! The Divergent series comes to an end as Tris, Tobias and the gang venture outside the fence. This was another great novel by Veronica Roth. I loved the dual narration from Tris and Tobias which was something new and different. Secrets are revealed and Tris gets to learn more about her mother's past. Another great part of the novel is that Tris and Tobias mature more in their relationship. There is also a lot of action, suspense and twist and turns like there were in Divergent and Insurgent. Allegiant was an emotional read especially with the way it that ended, but I really did enjoy the series.
Date published: 2017-02-18
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love/hate well written compared to the others but...SO SAD.
Date published: 2017-02-16
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok conclusion I was expecting more from the conclusion of this series, but if you've already read the other two you need to finish it off!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sad... I loved this series and this book had a great and interesting start.... although the ending left me in tears...
Date published: 2017-02-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good and not good! I was disappointed by the entire series. It started on a really good idea and concept...yet the end was 'meh'! However, this was my favorite novel from the entire trilogy...I liked reading Four's POV, even better than Tris!
Date published: 2017-02-08
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great I really liked the ending to this book. It was unexpected and original.
Date published: 2017-02-07
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointing The first book was amazing. The second book was lacklustre. The third? I couldn't even finish it. I asked my boyfriend what happened and shelved it. Really disappointed.

Date published: 2017-02-07

Date published: 2017-02-05
Rated 2 out of 5 by from disappointing had a lot of expectations but must say i was disappointed...
Date published: 2017-02-01
Rated 1 out of 5 by from lazy conclusion to a lazy series spare yourself the trouble, don't invest in this confusing, dull and unimaginative conclusion to an already lackluster series. The plot is convoluted and difficult to follow, the characters might as well be doorstops, and the whole of the book just feels like i'm reading some discount fanfiction of the already awful first two books. Won't miss the characters, won't miss the series! I can't believe I gave Vernoica Roth a third chance.
Date published: 2017-01-29
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Allegiant Rapid ending to the series.
Date published: 2017-01-28
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have Klennex For The Ending A truly spectacular finale, which took a turn I didn't expect, and carried lots of terrific surprises. But the ending... oh, the ending, those last seven chapters... The fangirl in me wept buckets, but I can't deny that despite the grief it caused me, it was truly beautiful and powerful and will stick with me for the rest of my life. This has been a stellar series and I couldn't have been more impressed. Definitely a series everyone must read!

Date published: 2017-01-26
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fabulous! This last book in the divergent trilogy had me very sad that the series was ending. It was definitely my favourite novel ever! Veronica Roth has done such an amazing job in both her writing and the development of the story. The characters in this trilogy seemed so real, and when the characters were feeling a certain emotion, I would find myself also feeling the same way... Thank you Veronica Roth for giving us the opportunity of letting us read and discover this wonderful world that you have created! This whole series will forever be my number 1!
Date published: 2017-01-24
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! I love this book! I finished it in one whole sitting.
Date published: 2017-01-22
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed First two books of the series were much better, the author's writing style seemed to change for this one and the plot was odd. Some may like, but I was disappointed after the first two were so great, which I read about 10 times each, and this one only once.
Date published: 2017-01-20

Date published: 2017-01-18
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good book I would have preferred a different ending, and in much more detail, but it at least concluded the series.
Date published: 2017-01-17
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Made me think of the movie The Village meets the Iseland. I liked it but I have to say I was REALLY suprised at the authors choice of ending. Trust me you don't expect it.
Date published: 2017-01-17
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Why can't we rate in half-stars? Though this final installment of the Divergent series was not as good as the first two, I still thought it was very good. I was so annoyed by the ending, but I will admit it was the best way to bring this fantastic series to a dramatic close.
Date published: 2017-01-16
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just Don't If you've read DIVERGENT and INSURGENT but haven't ventured into ALLEGIANT yet, just don't. This book, to put it bluntly, is boring. There's nothing going on as far as plot is concerned, and character motivation lags considerably behind the first two books in this series. The ending is awful. If you haven't read it yet, just don't. There's a reason ALLEGIANT PART 1, the movie, had disappointing box office numbers.
Date published: 2017-01-13
Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was okay... Didn't live up to the other novels, but the ending was worth it. Definitely shocking and an emotional rollercoaster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE This is one of my favourite series! I so recommend reading it
Date published: 2017-01-11
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great book I was hesitant to pick up this book since I heard a lot of people talk about how this book was not good and they had a hard time getting through it. I personally very much enjoyed this book. I was interested in all the test that were conducted so perhaps that is why I enjoyed this story. I did not get through this book as fast as I had the others but I still thoroughly enjoyed it.
Date published: 2017-01-10
Rated 3 out of 5 by from An Interesting Ending Book three in the Divergent series was a good conclusion to the story. Although it was sad I found it to be quite memorable.
Date published: 2017-01-10
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Eh I definitely did not like the direction the series took in this book. I started getting annoyed at the characters and it just wasn't as enjoyable as the rest. I'm happy I finished it (I honestly didn't know if that would happen) because it did complete the series, somewhat. This book took me almost half a year to read, whereas I can read the others in a day.
Date published: 2017-01-09
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing This book makes me regret reading the first two. The ending was predictable and annoying because why, why would you end this series like that? I also started to hate some of the characters, mainly because the writing made Trice such a martyr, that the book become unbearable to read. There were too many eye rolling, cliche, YA tropes which just killed this novel.
Date published: 2017-01-08
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Could have ended any other way The ending was a disappointment, and not entirely because of the way it ended. The way it was written and the events leading up to it was just in my opinion, stupid.
Date published: 2017-01-08
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Book Probably my least favourite out of the trilogy but that is mostly due to the ending. Overall a solid ending to the series.
Date published: 2017-01-07
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didn't live up to first two/// I was a bit dissappointed in this one...didn't quite live up to my expectations. Found it harder to stay engaged to the story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing trilogy All i can say is this book ruined me and i never wanted to pick up another one again. Of course i did because im obsessed with books but i grew so attached to the characters and i didn't want to leave the world that was built for me. Great book. Awesome story. I have read this trilogy multiple times

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Kind of Boring In every dystopian series we always get a few chapters here and there that act as the "history lesson", letting the reader know how the world got to where it is in the book. That has always been my least favourite parts in dystopian books, and Allegiant was one huge history lesson. I was bored of the story and kept waiting for it to get better! Most people hated this book because of what happens at the end, but I actually loved the end and respect Veronica Roth for going there. It was just the rest of the book that I hated lol.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The absolute worst I was extremely let down. Not worth reading.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Noooo My expectations were not met in Allegiant... by quite a long shot. I really didn't like the switching between perspectives (Tris and Four). The ending felt wrong, too. :(

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh ... I'm disappointed with how confusing and random it got, essentially eliminating the major details of the other two books but the ending broke me a lot more then I expected.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible ending If you've invested in books one and two, you may as well read this to see how it all ends. Or, make up an ending in your head because it's likely to be better than the one the author wrote. Guaranteed you will be more satisfied with whatever you make up than what's actually in this book.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Highly Disappointed I loved Divergent when I first read it, and I ended up marathoning this whole trilogy over a weekend. I found Insurgent to be not quite as good as the first book, but still a really good story, and so I went into Allegiant with high hopes, as I was completely immersed in this amazing dystopian world that Veronica Roth had created. However, I found this book to drag quite a bit compared to the first two, and if I hadn't loved the first two so much, I'm sure this would have taken me a lot longer than a day to finish. As well, while I like everyone else it seems, hated the conclusion, that was not the only reason for a one star rating from me. I especially couldn't stand what happened with Four's character in this book, as I felt the decisions he was making were completely out of character from the first two books, and overall this book was just a huge disappointment. I'm really hoping that Veronica Roth's new release will be back to the amazing quality of Divergent, rather than the disappointment that this book was.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Conclusion! I didn't really like the way it concluded due to the nature of the conclusion, but it was a really really great series and definitely worth the time!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from So Bad This booked killed the entire series for me. It was so so so bad... it felt like she was just done with the whole series but had to get one more book out and threw this together....

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sinking Finish Thought after reading the second book in the series this last installment would rebound, however it failed to do so. Felt like the entire book was rushed, and a storyline that didn't make sense was thrown in at the last minute. Really disappointed with how this turned out.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh Honestly, with the other two being so great, this one was a let down. Wish it ended differently. I'd recommend it just because you have to finish a series once you start it

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good book Bad ending to the story after reading 1,538 pages they kill off a main character.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What the Heck!!! #plumrewards. I watched the Divergent movie then read the book and I did this for the entire Trilogy as I was so vastly disappointed with the third Harry Potter movie having read the books first. Totally learned my lesson. But REALLY, REALLY, your just gonna kill off a main character like that, no spoilers here folks, but seriously, thank GOD THEY CHANGED THAT OUTCOME IN THE MOVIE FOR THE BETTER I'D SAY. See, no spoilers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wish it ended differently Not a great book. Din't like the way the story went

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wish It Had Been Different I wanted a book that would be just as good as Divergent was. I didn't get that with Insurgent so I thought I would get it with Allegiant but that didn't happen either. I guess what annoys me the most is the ending.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Meh For the most part it was uneventful and pretty boring. I felt just like the characters when they found out the truth: disappointed and left wondering what was next. But then Roth lets go of all the action she's been holding back and rushes it all on the end. The ending was exhilarating and just rips your heart out. I did not expect things to happen the way they did except maybe Tris' actions. I'm still at a loss for words. Roth has done one of those rare things in a book by passing a forbidden line that very few authors dare to cross. I don't know how to cope with everything that happened and all the revelations. Like it or not, you will be thinking about this book for a very, very long time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good had sad unexpected turns but they don't take away from how good the book truly was. This book, along with Divergent and Insurgent, are along with the few books that i could reread over and over again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Crappy ending I was very upset by the ending of this book. I was happy that the movie had a different ending. Usually I prefer books to the movies, but in this case the movie was better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Huge disappointment I was so disappointed when I read the ending of this book that I was sorry I ever started the series. I get that life is not always happy endings but really I was crying at the end and couldn't believe that the book was going to end like that, HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!! Plus I felt that the writing was so much better with the first two books and then this one seemed choppy and distant not drawing me in like the other two did. I put that I wouldn't recommend the book to anyone but really if you've started the series I can see how you would want to finish it but I'd rather say read the first book and then imagine your own ending.

Editorial Reviews

“In the end, this is a world replete with loss, and the heroes must suffer their own in a twist that will break the hearts of many readers but stays true to the merciless dystopia that Roth has created.”
