Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply" by Terry Spear. Book 19 in the Heart of the Wolf series. Book 6 in the Silver Town Wolf series. I read this book in June 2016. This was my review. I really enjoyed this book about Eric and Pepper. Wolves from different packs, Pepper is the alpha leader of her pack and Eric is alpha as well but he's from the Silver pack and he's not the leader, his cousin Darien is. Pepper has been running her own pack for years. Alphas have come around hoping to mate with her but they just want to take over her pack, not run it with her. When she meets Eric, a park ranger, who just saved her cousin, there is a mutual attraction between them right away. But he's definitely an alpha and she's just not ready to be courted by anyone, especially if they only want to take over her pack. Once Eric has met Pepper, he knows she's the one for him. But is he really ready for another mate? Should he even be courting her when he has work to do? A pack of wolves are growing marijuana in the forests and Pepper's pack might be involved. I really enjoyed the story line in this book. It's not really that big of a mystery but it's written so well, I found myself thinking "well, maybe it's not them? Maybe it is?" The romance between Eric and Pepper is a slow burn throughout the book with a satisfying ending. They just work so well together. Overall, this book was really nice to read. A beautiful romance. Can't wait to read the next one in the overall Heart of the Wolf series!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply While investigating some mysterious wolves that are up to no good, wolf shifter and park ranger, Eric Silver crosses paths with a she wolf who is fascinatingly enough her pack’s leader but she’s DEFINITELY NOT looking for a mate in this spectacular paranormal romance. While tempted to give in to her attraction to Eric, Pepper Grayling has been pursued by too many alpha males out to take over her pack so she just isn’t ready to open her heart and the reader can’t help but enjoy all the fireworks and passion that flows from the pages as Eric sets out to earn Pepper’s trust. There is certainly plenty of sizzling chemistry between these two strong, charismatic and very alpha characters but with betrayals from the past haunting Pepper and the welfare of her pack at stake, this relationship is one that will take lots of hard work which keeps readers on the edge of their seat with anticipation throughout this fast paced, smooth flowing plot full of suspense, excitement and romance. There is lots of suspense and excitement to be found throughout this spectacular story as not only is Eric investigating some wolves that are definitely up to no good, his courtship of Pepper stirs up a hornet’s nest of trouble when an unwanted suitor takes exception which adds a bit of dangerous excitement to the story as it places both Pepper and Eric in a couple of dangerous situations. The intriguing events draws readers in and holds them hostage with the well written scenes being full of great details that make it easy for the reader to picture every moment. Eric and Pepper’s story is an epic event…. things aren’t quite the way you would expect them to be as both are alpha wolves but they don’t behave in typical alpha fashion which for me added a bit of spice and made for a refreshing change but then Terry Spear usually manages to keep me on my toes and as usual I can’t wait for the next fascinating story.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3.75 stars-fun and sexy 3.75 stars---ALPHA WOLF NEED NOT APPLY is the nineteenth installment in Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE WOLF paranormal, romance series. This is park ranger/alpha male and Silvertown wolf Eric Silver, and forester/alpha female/pack leader Pepper Grayling’s story. ALPHA WOLF NEED NOT APPLY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from dual third person perspectives (Eric and Pepper) ALPHA WOLF NEED NOT APPLY follows the building relationship between Eric and Pepper. While Eric is on patrol, investigating a possible marijuana grow-op, our hero is attacked by several unknown wolf shifters, and finds himself an unwelcome guest of another wolf pack where one of its’ own is injured and needing help. Enter Pepper Grayling, the alpha female and leader of the pack, and the wolf that calls to Eric’s heart. But….Pepper is an independent she-wolf who blames herself for the loss of her last mate, and refuses to get involved with any alpha wolves looking to take over her pack. She is reticent, wary, distrustful and reluctant to expose her pack to another alpha male. What ensues is a battle for domination, land, and the heart of the female alpha. ALPHA WOLF NEED NOT APPLY is a slow building story line that reveals some of the background of Pepper’s struggles with her pack; the loss of her previous mate; and the connection to the current conflict and battle for the pack. She is a strong leader; ever vigilant; and concerned for the safety of the people she loves. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters, including several shifters who threaten both Eric and Pepper’s lives, their packs, and their possible future. I did enjoy the time spent with both packs when Eric and Pepper introduced the shifters to one another. Ever competitive, the alpha wolves battle one another for domination at beach volleyball ! Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE WOLF is a captivating, entertaining an enjoyable series. Her heroes are sexy and passionate; the heroines seductive and strong. ALPHA WOLF NEED NOT APPLY is a spirited story with colorful characters in a world to heighten your imagination. If you are a fan of shifter romance, why not give Terry Spear’s HEART OF THE WOLF series a try.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Alpha Wolf Need Not Apply Spear has definitely created a wildly imaginative yet extremely realistic novel with this one. I love how everything is so plausible, even being a shifter. The subtle hints and plot twists throughout kept me on my toes while also weaving many lives together. Not only is the plot of this novel well laid out, but Spear also goes indepth with her development of her wolf shifters. Readers aren’t left guessing, but rather are shown what happens. I really enjoyed the look at wolf posturing and how it’s part of absolutely everything in these characters’ everyday lives. Spear’s gradual character development lets you get to know everyone as issues arise. I enjoyed the fact that it was a natural introduction rather than a forced info dump. Pepper’s suspicious nature is a little over the top at times. She’s so focused on the ‘can’t’s’ that life is flying by and she’s limiting her whole pack. Conversely, Eric tries so hard to see the possibilities. It was amazing how different Pepper & Eric’s views were. This novel was sweet & heartfelt but also dangerous and action packed. It’s definitely well worth the read. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
