An arresting un-coming-of-age story, from a breathtaking talent

Becca has always longed to break free from her small, backwater hometown. But the discovery of an unidentified dead girl on the side of a dirt road sends the town--and Becca--into a tailspin. Unable to make sense of the violence of the outside world creeping into her backyard, Becca finds herself retreating inward, paralyzed from moving forward for the first time in her life.

Short chapters detailing the last days of Amelia Anne Richardson's life are intercut with Becca's own summer as the parallel stories of two young women struggling with self-identity and relationships on the edge twist the reader closer and closer to the truth about Amelia's death.

Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This book surprised me! Lets just put it like this, i had more fun reading Amelia Anne Is Dead And Gone over John Green's Paper Towns. This book has me captivated, not many books can do that. I did enjoy Paper Towns and i'm into the whole YA genre but this book which by the way is still YA but with Mystery (A whole lot of it), was able to capture my attention. There was one plot twist at the end that had me like holy smokes that was not what i was expecting. Even though you do catch on with the murder, it is not what you think and will not know until you finish reading it. Kat Rosenfield did a great job with her writing, it was beautiful. I give it 4.5 stars but you can't do that on this site.

"Layered and exquisitely written...Actions have real consequences in Rosenfield’s novel, and her suffocating small town setting is powerfully and chillingly evoked." — Publishers Weekly, starred review
