From Our Editors

When her employer Mrs. Rogers decides to throw a surprise shower for a friend, Amelia Bedelia enlists the help of her Cousin Alcolu to get ready. They follow Mr. and Mrs. Rogers' directions exactly ... a little too exactly: pruning the hedge with real prunes, snipping daisies to make a bowl of cut flowers and liberally coating Mr. Rogers' freshly-caught fish with chocolate icing rather than putting them on ice! When the guests arrive, the trouble beings when Amelia Bedelia and Alcolu literally shower the guest of honour with the hose, and matters get worse from there! In the end, of course, the guests end up laughing uproariously at the confusion and enjoying some of Amelia Bedelia's delicious cakes. Another delightfully silly tale of mixed meanings! Ages 6-8.
