Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from When you least expect it, life shows you the way. Stephanie writes a heartwarming journey that took her from a devastating injury to deep life lessons about who she is and how to open her heart and connect with her family. This journey is funny, witty, and each chapter leaves you wondering what will take place next. It's infused with real-life struggles of how to be a wife and mother and how to find and live your true authentic self. I love how it gave practical knowledge about the chakras, yoga teachings, mudras, and the importance of incorporating ceremony into everyday life. An enjoyable and captivating read and I'm looking forward to the second book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Book About Self-Discovery! How do we, as contemporary women, balance our work life with our family life, and still have time for self-care and personal discovery? Hopefully, it doesn’t take a severe injury or illness to answer that conundrum as it did for Stephanie Hrehirchuk. Driven to max out and do her best, Hrehirchuk, instead, found herself flat on her back, unable to do much of anything. She took the “opportunity” of a year’s worth of “contemplation” through yoga and related modalities to heal herself one chakra at a time. She healed more than her spinal injury in the process, becoming more mindful in her daily activities and decision-making with both work and family. An Accidental Awakening is a vulnerable memoir infused with thoughtful wisdom and quirky humour. I recommend this book to anyone interested in discovering what yoga can offer but, more importantly, to those wishing to reconnect with themselves and what’s most important.
