In Shelley Shepard Gray’s fourth book in her Charmed Amish Life series, an unlikely Amish romance reveals that Christmas is a time for family, miracles—and love.

Ever since his father died in a tragic fire, Levi Kinsinger has felt adrift. Newly returned to Charm, Ohio, Levi is trying to fit into his old life, only to discover he seems to have outgrown it.

But when Julia, his young widowed neighbor, asks for his help with a Christmas project, Levi finds a sense of purpose for the first time in months. She and her daughter are new to Charm and could use a friend, a job Levi takes personally. Soon enough, friendship grows into attraction, but Levi can’t help having doubts. There’s something about Julia that doesn’t ring quite true…

Like Levi, Julia Kemps has survived her fair share of hardships—but only by hiding the truth of her past. Being an unmarried mother in an Amish community was unthinkable. Feeling hopeless, Julia did the only thing she could do: she moved to a new town and pretended to be a widow. But meeting Levi, she’s hopeful for the first time. Little by little, she begins to imagine telling him her darkest secret, and eventually…perhaps even sharing her life with him.

Christmas is a time for family, and as the holiday draws closer, Julia and Levi will have to face their pasts together…in order to find the healing, support and love they so desperately desire.

Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Fabulous Conclusion to A Charmed Amish Life Series The final book in the Charmed Amish Life series brings wonderful closure to the Kinsinger family...and their devout reading fans. The whole series has been a fascinating study on the many faces of grief as each Kinsinger sibling works through the accidental death of their father. In this final novel, we get a close up look at Levi and how his grieving process has affected his life and relationships. This brother is adrift -- feeling stuck in a rut as his sisters and brother have successfully moved on. Even a stint working construction in Pinecraft, Florida didn't bring him the breathing space he needed. Now he's back in Charm, trying to fit it in and failing miserably. My heart went out to Levi from the very first book. He was the most volatile and even though he's worked through some of that anger, he's still in turmoil. What the man needs is a distraction...and a chance to act the knight in shining armor to a damsel in distress provides exactly that. Julia is harboring so many secrets she feels like they are swallowing her up whole but she will do anything to keep her past in the past. Even if that means keeping her handsome new neighbour at arms length. But it's Christmastime and that special magic is in the air and romance seems inevitable until something happens that threatens it all. An emotional, heart-tugging story with a few unexpected twists and turns that rattled my orderly reader world. A resounding conclusion to the Kinsinger family saga. My thanks to Litfuse Publicity Group and Avon Inspire for providing me with a copy of this book.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from 3.5 Rating. An Amish Family Christmas is the first Amish fiction book I’ve read that wasn’t set on a farm in one way or another. This was a welcome change and gave me a different glimpse into their culture. It did seem as if the characters were slightly more immersed in the “English” way of life, but they still valued their faith and Amish traditions. The characters were interesting with backstories that helped to justify their personalities and the decisions they made. I think that author could have easily extended the length of this novel on those stories alone. Unfortunately because it was so short, I found as a reader that I missed out on some important relationship development. Especially when it came to Levi and Julia’s friendship. The secondary story line of Tess and her refuge for abused women and children seemed to be lost amidst the main story. Although hopefully the author will expand on this in future installments of this series. An Amish Family Christmas was a light and cozy read that would be best read on a cold day, curled up by a roaring fire. It was a sweet story with strong a strong family dynamic. Because this is the first book I have read in this series, I am now curious to go back and read the first three books. I would recommend this book to fans of Amish fiction, especially those have already read the previous books in this series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Accepting The Past We are back in Charm, Ohio and Levi Kinginger is back and again working in the family lumber business, he just got back from Florida, trying to get back to his life and dealing with the death of his father in the fire. Julia Kemp and her five year old daughter Penny are new in town and attempting to acclimate themselves into the Amish community. Julia works at the local fabric store, and Penny attends the local Amish school. Julia is still coming to terms with her past, and how to best move on with their lives. Of course our two main characters are bound to meet, but sparks soon seem to fly between them, and how will Julia be able to deal with this new person in her life? She is trying to put the past away, but Penny is a constant reminder, and the love of her life. Will Julia be able to trust another man, how about Penny she doesn’t have a father, will Levi be able to fill this void? This is a fast pace story that begins on December 3rd and ends on Christmas Day December 25th, and once you start you will be quickly turning the pages to get to the answers. I received this book through Litfuse Publicity Book Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.
