Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Historical Storytelling Love the culture and historical render of some of the activities and treatments for ailments back in this era. The story mostly focuses on Marcus and his journey and the change of direction for Hadassah in adjusting to her new surroundings with new friends. The influence Hadassah had on others is expressed and comes to fruition in this book. Great depictions of different culture groups during the historic period of the book. #plumreview

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED This book was SO good. I liked the 1st one, but man, I loved this one. The story starts and you are already in the action and in the nitty gritty. You come to a close on the journey of a lot of the characters you've grown to love (and hate) and find redemption where you least expect it. It is again a long book, but oh how I feel like I know these characters and lived with them. So much depth in the emotions and sorrow, anger, forgiveness and love. Once again, the spiritual journey is center stage, I feel like my faith was watered during the reading of this book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful book I had read the first book in the series "A voice in the wind" and I liked it, but i LOVED this book. It's the type of story that entertains and transports you to another world while at the same time drawing you closer to the Lord. Its so rare to have godly entertainment and I truly fell in love with the characters and the writing is great! I could have used a little less of Julia but then again she was probably needed to contrast the story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Testimony This is the second book in the Mark of the Lion Series. I liked it even better than the first. It's set in first century Rome. This one follows Marcus, as he searches for the truth about Christianity for himself, having seen it displayed in the life of a slave named Hadassah. It also shows life, death, illness and disability in that culture. I loved it. It shows what people thought of Christians during that time, and how the early eyewitness testimony of Christ and the bravery of the Christians facing death made a great impact on the culture. It had as much head-hopping as the first book, but I was distracted enough by the story not to care.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Book!! Actually, I am currently reading this book for the second time and have recommended it to numerous friends. This book has helped me to have better ideas of what it was like to be a Christian and non-Christian at that time. I can totally relate to the struggles they have gone through and have helped me to have better appreciation for the bible. It has also helped me to be more open and personal with God in my prayers. The author had totally captured the people's emotion and heart. I have read the whole series and would definitely like to read her other books.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Echo in the Darkness This is a fantastic book! It gives a very realistic perception of what the character of a christian should be. It is very dramatic and most of all, I was personally drawn closer to God by simply reading this novel. It also allowed me to view the life of a christain in a light of love and helping others regardless of who they are. I would recommend this novel to anyone who wants to experience a soul thrilling and inspiring work of art. Thank you Mrs. Francine Rivers for giving me the opportunity to view the christian world in a light that I have never seen before.
