First there are nightmares. Then come the memories. Now she must hunt.

Ellie can’t shake the terrifying dreams about monstrous creatures that are hunting her, killing her. Then she meets Will and feels on the verge of remembering something just beyond her grasp. His attention is intense and romantic, and Ellie feels like her soul has known him for centuries. When they meet on a dark street at midnight, Will awakens Ellie’s power, and she knows that she can fight the creatures that stalk her in the grim darkness. Will holds the key to Ellie’s memories, whole lifetimes of them, and she can no longer pretend anything was just a dream.

Her role is to hunt and kill the reapers that prey on human souls. In order to survive, she must also hunt for the secrets of her past lives, the dangerous and ancient battle of the angels and the Fallen, and truths that may be too frightening to remember.

Angelfire is achingly romantic, terrifying, and filled with blistering action.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You should really read it! I brought this book because of the title and the cool looking swords, but when i started to read it. I couldn't place it down. I fell in love with it. It is such a good story and you should get it if you are looking for something different from the Vampires, Werewolves kind of stories out there.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from An Intriguing Angel-Book I've heard so many awesome things about this book that I knew I had to pick it up — and I enjoyed it, but didn't fall in love with it like I'd hoped I would. I loved the world that Moulton created — it was completely original! There were creepy monsters called reapers, complicated angels, and a reincarnation plot that worked perfectly for the story, which is sometimes hard to accomplish. A lot of things were easy to predict, but there were also some things I hadn't seen coming. And Will... oh, Will! He was such a hot, sweet, protective, and somewhat-awkward-in-the-time-period character that definitely makes my list of book boys to covet! He was the tallest mountain on this otherwise plain book landscape. I adored him! But Ellie herself was so hard to connect with. I felt like she was several characters at once — a regular over-privileged schoolgirl who just wanted a normal life, the kick-ass warrior she suddenly turned to in the field, and others. She was all over the place as a character, and half the time I couldn't understand why she did what she did. Other than that, Angelfire was a pretty cool edition to the angel bunch. With kick-butt characters, a fast-moving storyline, and killer fighting scenes, it's sure to be a favourite for some people (and it already is)! Maybe I'm just the exception. BUY or BORROW?: A close friend of mine claims this book is one of her favourites, so you definitely shouldn't just take my word on it! You should still check it out. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Enthralling and unique Angel concept Angelfire is, definetely, one of my favorite Angel books of the year! Moulton's world building and original concept gives readers a refreshing and compelling story full of action, mythology and a swoon-worthy forbidden romance. Ellie, a seventeen years-old girl, is the reincarnation of warrior called the Preliator and her mission is to destroy the demons who wanders the earth. Although, she doesn't know this until she meets Will, an Angel who is bound to protect her in every one of her reincarnations as well as to guide her and train her in order to become the almighty warrior capable to destroy demons. How can I possible tell you with the right word how much I love this book! Ellie is a very intelligent and real character who, regardless being a warrior reincarnation, she is more human than mythical. Ellie is, indeed, becoming more like us everytime she reincarnates a new time. And she start to develop strong human emotions such as love. This alteration in the Preliator' s feelings gives the plot a doomed and consuming romantic twist that will keep you biting your nails, swooning and suffering for both of them. Will, one of my top fictional hotties of the year, is Ellie's guardian who, in every one of Ellie's life, he finds her. But it is more than that, there is a like mystical pull that bring him to her. Though this time, Will takes longer because Ellie/Preliator's reincarnation had the longest gap that there's ever been, taking years to the Preliator to reincarnate once again. I love Will in every single way but mostly, I sympathize with him. He is bound to protect the Preliator, but the Preliator is not an immortal. Thus, Will has seen his own mission fail countless of times by seeing how his life-reason vanish right in front of his eyes. Will's suffering and devotion is absolutely heartbreaking and it moved during many pages while reading this book. There are other wondrous characters such as Nathaniel who is absolutely lovable and Cadan, a mysterious Angel that I am longing to know more about. It seems that the next installement will have more about Cadan and I can't wait to see how he will interfere in the story as well as in Ellie's life. Moulton's debut novel has everything on it! Alluring characters, a compelling story and one of the best forbidden romance of the year! Angelfire is a book that will keep you immersed in its world and, also, daydreaming about the passionate fire between Ellie and Will even long after you turned the last page.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This book was awesome! I'm always hesitant towards books that everyone seem to like and strongly recommend and I was glad to find out that all those people were right! I love the aspect of reincarnation. In this book Ellie keeps coming back in order to fight demons. Not exactly what I would expect from a typical reincarnation book. I'm more of coming-back-to-life-for-love type of girl. But there is plenty of love in the air in this book. Will is the one who brings her memories back or tries to couple of times and the attraction between them is clear but of course it wouldn't be that easy for them to get together and here comes the big and unexpected twist which I totally didn't see coming. Add more drama and tension to the love story and it's insta-love for me! What can I say? I love my characters to go through hell first in order to be together which I guess won't be far from the truth... in the next books. Ellie as a person who has lived many lives, is filled with memories which she gradually gets back. Some flashbacks were terrible like the way she died, but others were little snippets of her and Will which makes you see the bond they share with each other and how strong it is. I hope though flashbacks continue on the next book. Overall I loved it! Anglefire is a fast paced and action driven novel with a forbidden love that'll make you want to come back for more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amzaaaaaing i did not have high hopes for this book, but as i read through the pages, i found my self having troubles putting this book down. this book will NOT disappoint you. this book is completely original! the author is so creative and damn, is Will hot ( hehe XD ) this book has alot of twists and turns but its all based on the same idea. there are many questions in this novel that are answered before the book ends and the answers are not what you expect. there are alot of over lapping ideas in this novel, which i thought was creative and interesting. defiantly different- but in a good way. this book will not disappoint. well... maybe the release date of the second novel will. P.s and yes, even tho there is romance in this book, its not cheesy ( like twilight, etc) the fire between Ellie and will is passionate, and in some ways, tragic ( but not too tragic...) eh. its easier to understand when you read it :P its complex yet simple. hahahaha

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Action/Romance in one Book I really actually liked this book, it had so much action, with all the fighting scenes. This awesome book was just awesome. I couldn't put it down! Oh Will was just a gentlemen with a sexy smile. I also have him Tuesdays and weekends (Mocha) hehe. I want my own Will. The beginning of the book starts off slow but nearing the first few chapters it gets intense. Ellie then meets the handsome Will, who hold many secrets about, her life that she never knew. He is there to help her along the way, he is her guardian. With these two, we can see lots of chemistry which was really well developed. Moulton uses Lucifer and Angels and God as a way of putting it in a great story with action, romance and much, much more! The ending was good also, it makes you want to read the next book in the series Wings of the Wicked, which I cant wait to read. I liked this book so much!! I hope everybody will read this book soon, before the next one comes out next year!! tons of actions and even some romance, check this book out at your local bookstore or library, its worth the read!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing debut! I was so excited to read this book because a) angels, helloooo. I'm a fan of anything supernatural, and that includes angels (and demons!) and b) Courtney was posting little teasers on her blog weekly so my interest was piqued long ago. (Plus the artwork of Will & Ellie? Gorgeous.) So going in I was feeling good, and I ended up finishing feeling pretty good too! Ellie is just this normal teenager. She likes hanging with her friends, watching movies, and going to parties. When she is first confronted by Will, she thinks he's just a hot stranger but her second thought is 'where's my mace?' YES finally a girl with some sense lol. This is what I liked most about Ellie. Not only does she have a good head on her shoulders, she's also understandably freaked out when she finds out she's destined to fight and kill reapers. What about her homework? Her friends? She's got to try and keep her normal life and her hunting life separate, which leads to lying and guilt on her part. Will. Ah Will. There was something I just adored about him. Whether it was his 'electric green' eyes, his centuries long devotion to Ellie, the way he sat on her roof to keep watch, and how he said 'as you wish' everytime she asked him to do something. He's got this old, gentlemanly vibe yet he's such a fierce warrior. He's plagued by the guilt he feels for all the times he failed Ellie in her past lives and she was killed. He's seemingly simple yet complex all the same. There's also a lot of action in this book. There are lots of fight scenes with the reapers, the vir, and some scenes of Ellie and Will training. While most of the time I devoured the words and pictured these intense fights and injuries, they were a tad dragged out. 'He ducked, I ducked, he swung, I fell' and so on. But they were a means to an end so it's not too big a deal. Ellie's friends all seemed like pretty cool people, again, just typical teenagers, but I didn't find them annoying which seems to happen with friends of the MC. The only person I didn't like was Ellie's father. Oh my gosh, I was getting so angry about how he would talk to her! She says that he wasn't always so cruel and I thought maybe it was due to something supernatural, but nope, he's just become this cold hearted being. I found it hard to believe that a father would be more upset about the fact that his daughter crashed the new car he bought her versus whether she was injured or not. I'm a little suspicious, maybe we'll get more insight into his behavior in the second book. And I have to say this: I loved Ellie and Will's relationship. And no insta-love either! At first Ellie's a little shy around him but deep down she knows that they've known each other for hundreds of years and she becomes more and more comfortable around him as the bond they always shared becomes more pronounced. She's trusted him with her life, and as her memories slowly return, she realizes he means a lot to her. A lot a lot. Think of their relationship as a slow burning flame. It doesn't just flare up suddenly but grows steadily throughout the book. I really really liked how real their relationship felt and grew. Thank you Courtney! I hope the second book goes more into the relationship between Cadan and Will, there is some sort of old feud between them and I wanna know what! Review also here:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it! Check out my blog to see this review in full, plus more! I’ve had this title sitting on my computer for awhile now, and it wasn’t until I started following Courtney on Twitter and she started posting doodles from her book that I finally decided I needed to read this book (check out her Twitpic to see said doodles). Some of the doodles were so funny and accompanied by quotes, and it just drew me in. Angelfire was moved up to the top of my TBR list. I’m so glad I did that. I thought this book was amazingly well written, with characters that were more than just a name on the page. They have depth and feelings and I fell in love with all of them. Ellie is a rich, spoiled girl with rich, spoiled friends. She lives in a big house in a rich neighbourhood, her friends get DJs for their parties, and she gets an Audi A4 for her birthday. However, this doesn’t make Ellie a character that is stuck up or whiny, and she doesn’t have the perfect white-picket-fence family. Courtney gives her characters depth, regardless of what the stereotype may be. Ellie really is a strong, female character and it’s wonderful to see that in YA. Then there’s Will, who is my new character crush. I just think he’s so great. You have to read this book just so you can fall in love with Will and his bad-assness-that-really-is-only-a-cover-for-his-sweetness. Courtney really knows how to write some damn good fight scenes, too. They were so detailed and thought out that I could see them playing out in my mind easily. They really got my pulse going as I read and waited anxiously to see who would come out of the battle alive. Not only did she write good fight scenes, she wrote good one-liners, too! I loved some of the lines she gave to Ellie (see my Teaser Tuesday post). There was more than one occasion where I burst out laughing or snickered and got funny looks from around me (sometimes, I’d be on the bus and just start smiling like an idiot because I was trying to hold in the giggles). One other that thing I really liked was the detail that Courtney included when explaining all the inner workings of the world that Ellie had become a part of. To someone like me, who really isn’t religious in any way, shape, or form, it was really useful to get a good, detailed explanation of all the concepts Courtney included in her story. Her way of interpreting angels and demons is really different from the other angel stories I’ve read, and I really like that. It’s an angel story that doesn’t centre on the angel aspect, I guess. I think it’s really important the way Ellie is trying to keep up her relationship with her mom and her friends. It sets a good example for girls who either get a new boyfriend, or start a new hobby, or whatever it is they do that may separate them from their friends. Even though Ellie is trying to save the world and her own life, she knows that her friends and family are important parts of her life and she doesn’t want to give that up. Overall, this is one book I really enjoyed. It wrapped up nicely (the last line was perfect), but you can also tell that it’s leading up to more. I’m really interested to see where Courtney takes Ellie and Will to next and how Ellie is going to manage her newfound life with her old one. I think it’ll be pretty exciting. Book 2: Wings of the Wicked comes out in 2012!
