'I had to go back to New York and try to find him. There was a chance he mightn't be there but I had to give it a go because there was one thing I was certain of: he wasn't here. Anna Walsh is officially a wreck. She's covered in bandages and she's lying in her parents' Good Front Room dreaming of leaving Dublin and getting back to New York. To her friends. To The Most Fabulous Job in the World. And most of all, back to her husband, Aiden. But her family have other ideas (not to mention the usual problems that beset the Walsh sisters). And Aiden, for some reason, seems unwilling to get in touch. What happened to Anna to send her so far from all that she loves? And what happened to her marriage that her husband won't talk to her?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lovely and sad Half way through, this book will take your breath away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it...for the third time! This is the third time I've read this book and each time I read it I appreciate Marian Keyes storytelling even more. Her portrayal of Anna and her families journey through grief was beautifully told and, despite the deeply emotional topic, I was laughing out loud throughout the book. I've loved all the Walsh sister books but I think this one is my favourite.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’m Hooked! When my mom first introduced me to this book I was some what skeptical, I as normally into Dean Koontz. The minute I read the first page I was hooked, the characters, emotions and settings are absolutely amazing. I have to say I have never cried over a book until I read this one, I really connected with the character and what she was going through as I have had a similar experience. I have now become hooked and have bought ‘The other side of the story’ ‘Angels’ and ‘Last chance Saloon’

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sniffle, stop the tears I LOVED this book and like many finished in 3 days neglecting my family till the last page had been turned. I cried for this woman, although it says hilarious I found it touching; as sympathetic crier found tons of tissues required to complete. It has some cute quirky parts that moves the story along when you feel the sadness wrap around you but beware if you are at all emotional, it’s a crier. I have read each of Marion Keyes novels and love the Walsh sisters the best and find myself able to identify with each of their overwhelming issues. Can't wait for Helens story, sounds like Irelands Stephanie Plum! Thank You Marion for a touching story, I feel like I know these sisters and their families... wow.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Her best book yet! I loved this book. From the start I couldn't put the book down and read it in 3 days. I was so happy when I found out that the main character was part of the Walsh family. The humour the Walshes bring to the book is fantastic. The book was so good that I was sad to finish it. I can't wait for her to write a book about Helen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome read!!! If you already love Marian Keyes or even if you've never heard of her, this book is a must read. It has elements of everything: humour, suspense, sadness, hope, love, dispair, etc. Once you start the book, you are transported into the main character's world and you feel as if you know her and all the people around her. Anna Walsh has a great job, a wonderful family and group of friends, and a fabulous husband to boot. This may make her life seem perfect but, unfortunately, there are a lot of things going on that are very far from perfect. Anna's a bit of a mess and her husband seems to be awol. And so the story begins. Do yourself a favour and pick this book up and follow Anna through the twists and turns of her present life situation. This book is a great summer read. Take it to the cottage with you or just relax on your porch at home and I guarantee that this book will not disappoint.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally Different Than I Expected I received this book through bzzagent and was a little put off by the girlie cover and the "chick-lit" reviews. This did not appear to be the kind of book that would interest me. I was pleasantly surprised, therefore, to find the first part both humourous and intriguing. By the time I reached the end of the book, I was so profoundly moved that it has actually affected (positively) my relationship. I have so much I want to say about this book, but can't without spoiling the "mystery" in the first part. It was an excellent read, with a story that I haven't stopped thinking about since I finished it. What an absolutely wonderful book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from another winner Marian is a gifted writer. Her in depth look at what it is like to lose your husband is heartfelt, caring, sad and yet she finds the humor in families. Lots of laugh out loud bits that is so Marian. I loved this book, it touched me deeply. An excellent read!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another brillian read about the Walshe family! In my eyes Marian Keyes outshines herself in this book. From the start I couldn't put it down. Marian was in top form with the Irish humor and Mammy Walshe was fantastic- anyone who knows a mad Irish Mammy can relate. The story was moving and you find yourself wanting to know more. Many interesting characters and as we learn Anna's (main Walshe character in this book) story you can't help but feel for the character. I cried out loud and laughed even louder. As I reached the end of the book I realised I wanted to keep on reading. I would definately recommend this book to anyone looking for an easy read 'chic lit' book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Fantastic as Keyes' Books Are Always! Wow! Who knew Marian Keyes could write yet another book that couldn't be put down? The characters are definitely lovable and by the end of the novel it feels like you know them from your own personal life. Definitely worth the time that it takes to read this over-600 page novel. I recommend it to everyone and if you've never read a book by Marian Keyes, I urge you, start reading a book by her today, any one of them, they are all fantastic! I read a lot and she's my favourite author. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Anybody out There, a perfect summer read! As a long time Keyes fan, I was thrilled to see another book on the shelves. Anybody Out there did NOT disappoint. Still following the misadventures of one Irish family, with lots of daughters, Keyes continues to weave a common thread of family and support through her newest novel. It's not hard to get into, and I found it a really fast read. I always recommend all of Keyes novels to friends who enjoy "chic lit". Along with other briish writers in the same genre, Keyes continues to entertain her readers with a well written novel. Right up there with "Sush for Beginners" and "Rachel's Holiday", "Anybody Out There" is a must for any Keyes' fans>

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Classic Keyes! Anyone who has read other Marian Keyes novels will not be disappointed with this one. Those who haven't had the priveledge of reading her work, this is a perfect start! From start to finish, it keeps you reading as the storyline unravels. The characters are believable; Keyes doesn't require you to like all of the players in order to make it a good read. Just when you think you have it all figured out and you don't have to read the rest, she throws a twist in that makes you stop and think. Her choice of wording is perfect for the novel. She holds nothing back and leaves little to the imagination. It's easy to get a true picture in your head of what is going on. Quirky and hard to put down, this novel will surely be a hit for years to come.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable, Easy Read I really enjoyed this book, once I got past the first few chapters which I found dragged a bit. I found the characters easy to relate to and found myself wanting the story to continue once I was finished. Anna was beleivable and her story was easy to relate to. Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. I am so glad that I was bzzed about this book and that I had the chance to pass the bzz along. I would not normally have selected books by this author, but I have already picked up two other books by Marian Keyes and will start reading them this weekend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Couldn't Put It Down There are some books that have a way of hooking you in right away. "Anybody Out There?" is one of these books. After the first chapter you begin your quest to finish this book and figure out all the pieces. I'm glad I was introduced to this book and Marian Keyes and look forward to reading her other works.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Summer Read Overall I am not a fan of "chick lit" so when I saw that it was being compared to Bridget Jones and Sophie Kinsella's books I was a little wary... The premise is a good one, and the first of the four parts to book is a good read. It gives us a very good idea that Anna has had something horrid happen to her, and is in a very bad way. It hooks us in and we want to know what exactly happened to her. Her family give us quite a few good laughs. Her work as a Candy Grrl pr rep, and the scenes at work are funny. A good beach or cottage book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First Time.... This is the first time I have read one of Marian Keyes books. I found it a great read, could not put it down, I just wanted to keep on reading it. I will definately be reading more of her books. My copy was passed on to a friend who also really enjoyed it and then passed it on to someone else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you Marian! As a BzzAgent, I'm glad of having participated in the campaing to Bzz this book. I loved the beginning which made me laugh, the middle with the deepness of the story and the third part, where I was looking for more pages to read... If you don't like open endings, then you will love this book. Read it, you won't regret it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Laughed & Cried I really enjoyed this book. It is not the usually stuff I like to read. I usually like Historicals, mysterys and Science Fiction, but I loved it. It was a great easy read for the beginning of my summer vacation. I had brought other books in case I didn't like this one - it is a hefty book, but did not even consider not finishing it once I started. I am afraid I was not very social on our camping trip, at least not until I finished it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Anybody Wondering if Marian Keyes is Out There? Reading Marian Keyes' books is one of my many guilty pleasures. I love her books as a vacation read. But I must say I was disappointed with this one. I shelled out the $$$ hoping it would be worth it, but it seemed like many of the things I love about Marian Keyes were missing here. I found the subplot to be quite boring and often just skipped over these parts. I found the romance aspect I love so much was just missing here. Yes, it was a touching story. Yes, there were funny bits, but not to the same extent that I have seen in other books like Sushi for Beginners. That being said, I still read the whole thing in three days and often found that I could not put it down, so in that way it is a success. I'd just like to see more of the Marian Keyes we all know and love back in the next book.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great read! Like most of the reviewers here, I found out about this book by being a Bzz Agent. At first glance, the book seemed huge and I thought there was no way that I'd get through it. Once I was about 1 or 2 chapters in, I couldn't stop reading it! It left me wondering what caused Anna's injuries and where her husband was. I'd bring the book to bed and fall asleep with it still at the page where I left off. Anybody Out There is the best summer read I've had for years and I'd recommend it to any young or young-at-heart woman who is looking for an emotional but comedic book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Guilty pleasure I also learned about Marian Keyes through being a bzz agent. I normally read weighty stuff for work and teaching. Anybody Out There? was so much fun and so refreshing! I expected to find it fluffy (because if falls under the "chick-lit" descriptor) but it was very engaging from the first chapter and caught myself tearing up and laughing right out loud at various parts throughout this book. It certainly wasn't predictable. Take it to the beach, the back yard, the cottage. It's a comfort book and we all owe ourselves this kind of guilty pleasure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I couldn't put it down! Great Summer Read! Prior to this book, I had not read any of Marian Keyes wrote. I am not a big "chick-lit" fan, so I was unsure if I was going to enjoy this book. I am an agent for and I received this book to read as one of their campains. I am so glad I did read this book! It was SOOOOOO entertaining! Twists and turns...I HAD to keep reading to find out what was happening with the main character, Anna. The supporting characters are great, by the end I felt like I knew them! I will be picking up Marian's other books! This is a great summer read!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from anybody (and everybody) out there should read this This is not usually the type of book I read...I tend to stick to mysteries...but when the opportunity came as a bzzagent to try something different I thought I would give it a chance...and I was pleasantly impressed... When I first saw that it was nearly 600 pages I thought I may have signed up for more than I could handle...but as I got into it...the pages flew by...after the first section I found myself in tears and had to put it down for a bit...but the next day I was back into it dying to find out what happened to poor Anna...After finishing it I now want to check out the other Marian Keyes works...You'll'll'll love it (just like I did!)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun and touching read that you can't put down! First I am also a bzz agent. So this was the first I had heard of or read a Marin Keyes book. This was such a good book. A nice change from what I normally read. I thought I might not like what I was told a chick lit book but after a slow beginning, the first chapter or two, I was hooked. I would definately recommend this book for a great summer read. Anna and her cooky family hook you into their lives right away! 8/10

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WOW!! WOW!! Really that is all aI can say! I recieved the book to read as part of program that I am signed up for, BzzAgent. Before recieving this book, I really had never heard of Marian Keyes so when I saw how big the novel looked, I started the book relunctantly, thinking that it was going to be some chick flick kinda of book. Marian Keyes, the author has amazing talent and was able to have me hooked by page 4 (no joke) I fell in love not only with each character in the story but also with the amazing writting style. The story is written in a way that kept me hooked, not only because of the multitude of unanswered questions that are burning away at you and leaving you screaming into the book for answers- ok maybe not screaming but definately begging :)... but also because all of the characters are so relateable. I recommend this Marian Keyes book, "Anbody Out There?" to anyone who enjoys a well written book. I will definately be reading more by this same author!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unexpected Surprise I received this book as part of a Buzz Campaign. When the book arrived I was a bit surprised that is was so big. I kept thinking I hope this is not like harlequin romance because I really hate those types of books. I started to read it I did not really care for it at first because it kept switching from place to place from each chapter then after a few chapters it drew me in and I found I was hiding in my room away from the kids as soon as my husband would come home from work. I really felt every emotion that Anna was going through, I could not put it down. I have since recommended the book to all my friends and family members I am lending the book to my mom. I had never heard of Marion Keyes before but I can not wait to read more books from her. What a great

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A book I couldn't put down Like many of my fellow reviewers, I received this book through BzzAgent and was shocked to see how large the book was. It was an easy book to get through though, once I started reading it and was soon finding it very difficult to put down. It was read very quickly and I enjoyed it a great deal. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good and entertaining read. Or anyone who enjoys Marian Keyes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from EVERYBODY out there should read this book... I have to admit I'm usually a reader of mysteries.. but when the opportunity came up to be a BzzAgent for Marian Keyes new book I thought I'd like to try something new... When the book arrived I was a little put off at was nearly 600 pages! But as I started getting into it, I couldn't put it down...the storyline follows Anna - a girl who's been in some kind of accident and is trying to find her husband...when she finally realizes where he is gone...let me tell you...I couldn't stop crying!! I ended up reading the whole book in about 3 days and with my busy schedule that's a testament to the excellent storyline and plot...I have now passed the book along so that a friend can get the same enjoyment...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Witty and entertaining I discovered this book through a site called I was fortunate enough to "test drive" a copy and then voice my opinion to spread "word of mouth advertisement". I could honestly recommend it to everyone I knew. I simply could not put this book down! I fell in love with the characters and the way Marian Keyes brought them to life. The best way to describe Anybody Out There is smart. Every line in the book has value: it is either funny, witty or contributes to the plot. Although I am normally one of the least girly girls I know, but this book made me feel happy to be a girl. Makeup, clothes, gossip, men it has all of my guilty pleasures and more. I would recommend this book to all women. It rocks!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I loved it I also never heard of Marian Keyes before reading this book. I recieved this book as part of a campaign. All I can say is that I absolutely loved it. I couldn't put this book down b/c I was in laughter or tears the whole time. There are so many twists in this book that it was killing me. I was so eager to find what will happen to the main character, Anna. I'm thankful to have been given an oppertunity to enjoy this book b/c this wouldn't be something that I would pick up on my own. I'm offically now a Marian Keyes fan!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Insipiring.... I received Anybody Out There through bzzagent, and from the moment I read the first page I was addicted. Marian Keyes created a character in this novel who was real. As you are reading the thoughts of Anna, you start to feel like you are Anna. Her pain, love and happiness become your feelings. This is one book that will read over and over again. I won't hesitate a moment in recommending it to every woman I come into contact with!

One that draws you into the characters lives and makes you feel like you're right there living the adventures with them? Well "Anybody Out There?" by Marian Keyes is the book for you! After reading this book as part of a BzzAgent campaign, I am now hooked on Marian Keyes books. This story about one womans struggles and emotional travel through a difficult time in her life is so good you will not want to put it down. The subtle cues in Marian Keyes writing allows you to litterally feel the characters emotions as if they were your own. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life's Lessons in one great book! At first you may think that this is just another summertime fluff novel. Don't be fooled! Marian Keyes has an innate ability to weave together humour, tragedy, love and adventure all into one amazing title! This book took me through a rollercoaster of emotions and allowed me to look at life's upsets in a new light. As a BzzAgent, I chose to read this book so that I could share it with others. The result ...I could not put this book down. Every second of ever moment I had it in my hands -- from making coffee in the morning before work, to the countdown before my pilates class. And when I came to the end, my reaction suprized me. Although I was sad to have finished the book I felt completely satisfied and continue to think about it! It's a must read!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All that and a box of kleenex.... This book came to me through a bzz campaign and it was not at all what I was expecting. It seemed like the type of book that was an easy fun read....and it was...but it also had some unexpected tear jerking aspects. I found the characters and the plot to be well developed and very believable. I both laughed and cried when I read this book, cheap therapy and great entertainment. I would definately recommend this book (and a box of kleenex).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved it!!!! I signed up for this book campaign as a BzzAgent with and LOVED this book! It had me by the 2nd page, and was a perfect summer read. Keyes writes with the perfect blend of humor and sensitivity. I laughed, I cried, I felt like I truly 'knew' the characters. Despite the thread of heartbreak that weaves thru this story, Keyes still manages to write a 'feel good' book. I've already passed this along to a friend who devoured it as I did, and who has since passed it along to her coworkers. Marian Keyes has earned her place on my 'favorite authors' list for this one!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unexpected Surprise. I recieved Anybody Out There as a Buzz Agent Campaign. At first when reading it i was not really interested because it would skip from place to place one chapter to the other i was confused but after a few chapters it drew me in and it was really hard to put the book down i would find myself hiding in my room just to see what happened next i really felt all the feelings that Anna was going through. I really enjoyed this book and have recomended this book to all my friends and family members.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You Won't be Able to Put it Down! Finally, a book that has it all!!!!! Marian Keyes has a knack for writing characters that you never want to let go. She makes you feel a part of the family as she dives right into the kookiness of the Walsh's and everyone around them! Anna, her Mom and sister Helen wisk you away to humourdome! Superb plot lines that turn the pages for you, before you know it, it's over and you wish it could go on and on and on. What happened to Aiden? Will Anna ever be happy again? Will she find him? I give you three days!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A real page turner I too got this book as part of a BzzAgent campaign. I've never read Marian Keyes before, but very quickly found myself caught up in this real pageturner of a story. Do not be put off by the length - it's a really quick read, and at times almost impossible to put it down -- especially during the first section. What happened to Anna & Aiden??? The supporting characters in this story are wonderfully drawn, and I definitely find myself interested in reading more of Keyes' Walsh sister stories.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An Easy, Great Read I also received this book through a Bzzz Agent campaign. I was a little taken back by the size of the book at first. Not quite sure if I would have enough time to read it as I have two choldren under the age of 3. I started this book one evening and was sucked right in to it! It was an easy read with realistic characters that made me laugh. It is a definite MUST READ!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from READ THIS BOOK! I have to say I am surprised at how much I love this book! While not a big 'Sex and the City'-type-of-book fan, I signed up to read this book as a BzzAgent. Definately not just a quick summer fluff book, the story has twists and keeps you glued. I had a hard time putting this book down each night! Anna (the main character) is quirky and fun, her family is wacky but reminds me of my own! This is a very easy read, but it's a story with some depth. Marian Keyes writing sucks you in - you will have to restrain yourself from flipping to the last page to peek! This will be the book you pass on to all the great women in your life. I have already read two more of Marian Keyes' books and will continue to recommend her as a talented, fun-to-read author.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hard to put down! I received this book through Bzzagent and had never heard of this author before. When I received this book, I was quite surprized at how many pages there were and figured it would take me a few weeks to get through it. Once I started reading though, it was quite an entertaining book. It was hard to put down, you wanted to keep on reading to try to find out what happened to the main character. Where did her husband go? Why was she injured?? By the end of the story you feel as if you are friends with the characters and do not want the story to end there. I will definitely pick up more of Marian Keye's books in the future. If you like the show Sex and the City and Bridget Jones diary- this is the book for you!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from There's definitely somebody out there! Like many others, I received this book as part of a BzzAgent campaign. I had never heard of Marian Keyes and wasn't sure if I would like this book as I usually tend to read "darker" authors (Stephen King etc.). Anybody Out There was a very pleasant surprise! It is a joyful read, with lots of surprises. The characters are quirky and heartfelt and provide a sense of everyman. No matter what your background you will see something of your life reflected in these characters. Touching and funny at the same time, Anybody Out There? is a great relaxing on the beach in the summer sun type of book and I highly recommend it to female readers from adolescence on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful read! An amazingly engrossing tale, "Anybody Out There" came to me via a Bzz Agent campaign. Author Marian Keyes has written an incredibly poignant love story with a most unexpected, and touching, finish. By turns wildly hilarious and achingly sorrowful, the story of Anna Walsh totally engaged my interest, and my emotions. I couldn't put the book down till I'd read the final page, and then felt bereft that it was over! A truly wonderful read!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Awesome Read!! I received this book as a BzzAgent and to be honest I originally had my doubts...When I started out reading this book I was completely dubious that I would ever finish it, the book was big and what I normally would have classified as a "chick lit" (sort of like a chick flick...but a book) This book is so well written with so many plot twists that it was truly one of the most enjoyable books I've ever read (and finished it in under a week!!) Her style of writing truly transports you there, the characters are not only believable, but as you read, they almost become friends (well except for maybe Nell's strange friend!) This one has prompted me to go looking for the rest of Marian Keyes books.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprisingly Poignant I received this book from bzzagent like some of the other reviewers. I was in awe when I received the book not only by its Harry Potter proportion but by the brilliantly white pages (I've been known to avoid books with questionable paper quality). I had never read Marian Keyes before but since I'd heard the book was funny, I was rearing to go. Not only was the writing style fantastic but I was both crying and laughing often on the same page. I did have to put the book down before delving into "Part Two" however since we ironically had a death in the family leaving me a bit too emotionally raw to immediately read the next few chapters. I finally finished the book today and must say I will be passing it on to my Mom, who is always up for a good read. I particularly liked the modern twist of using e-mail messages to learn more about the main character's other family members. So if you have time I say bring it to the beach, the cottage or your kid's soccer game. Just make sure to bring the tissues and beware that people may stare at you for laughing out loud...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved it....finally a series I can relate too I received this novel through being a bzzagent, a word of mouth program, and I absolutely fell in love with the characters right away. Perfect descriptions give way to imagination results. Quirky is not the word to describe her situations that she faces yet, they are situations I cam completely see myself falling into. The book is a bit overwhelming at first glance but once you start it , it smooths out very quickly. Definitely something you will be wanting to bring to the beach with you this summer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fabulous! Anybody Out There, was hard to put down, always the sign of a great book for me. I found the book engages you right from the start. It is a book that keeps you guessing and lets you slowly figure out what is going on with the main character Anna. I read it in just a few days and as I always find with great book I was sad when I was done, I wanted it to go on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bloody Brilliant I have never before read Marian Keyes, but received the book as a Bonified BzzAgent. I started reading during daycare naptime in my livingroom (I am a daycare provider, I have limited daylight time) and was diappointed when the children started waking up. 2 hours and 6 chapters had gone by in a flash. I was hooked. I couldn't put it down at all. The storyline is up to date with today's current events, but still down to earth with everyday life issues. Without giving too much away, she has 4 sisters and a kooky set of parents. Its the basic gotta get away from the nest syndrome, while at all times being pulled back in. Its funny, sad and exciting at the same time. A definite beach book.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Addictive and real I recieved this book through BzzAgent, a great word-of-mouth site, and expected it to be standard chick-lit fare: lots of laughs, a few tears, and a whole lot of fun. I definitely laughed, cried, and enjoyed myself, but this book was far from standard. Marian packs a lot of substance in as well, and I felt that her portrayal of Anna's emotions was very real. I really enjoyed the book and am definitely looking forward to trying out so more of Marian's work. The only reason I'm giving this three, (actually three and a half), stars instead of four was that I sometimes felt a little uncomfortable with it. Without giving too much away, the story centres on how Anna deals with an extremely horrible event; I felt a little uncomfortable at how much I was laughing at and enjoying a book about such a subject.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough to put this book down What a great story! Extremely emotional, yet funny. For anyone who's ever experienced a near-death accident, lost a loved one or has a slightly kooky family, this is a must-read. Marian Keyes kept me turning the pages and thinking "I'll just read one more chapter..." right to the last page. Anna is an extremely realistic, modern-day woman, and her love story is captured on the pages of "Anybody Out There" for all to experience. Her trials and tribulations of work, love, family and learning to forgive and move on really touched me. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love, I empathized. Some of it was almost too close to home, but all in all, I'd highly recommend it. A MUST summer or vacation read! Sophie Kinsella, move over - I need to make more room for Marian Keyes on my bookshelf! PS - if you haven't checked out her website, it's a must-read, too - her blog is hilarious.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Summer Read! I read this book recently and I loved every page of it! I was immediately drawn in from the first couple of lines and I could barely put the book down until it was finished. I love how just when you think you've got the plot all figured out, it takes some giant turn and pulls you back in to the new plot. Awesome! This was my first read from Marian Keyes and now I'm eager to go out and read the rest of her books, I'm really impressed! I will be recommending this book to my friends, and BzzAgent recommended it to me!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Chic Lit but with twists! While the main character is a familiar one and the book falls under the category of chic lit - the story is an emotional one about a subject that isn't often touched in this genre. The journey the heroine takes is difficult and heart wrenching - but one that many people will identify with. It is a very sad story but one that was so well told...I couldn't put this book down...despite the tears. I was really routing for Anna, and it was so nice to follow her journey, laugh with her and cry with her. This book is an excellent read for your summer vacation. I would recommend this to everyone who enjoys chic lit - and even to some who don't. It's not as light and fluffy as some other chic lit - but that's what makes it so great - there's real substance in this book! The best book I've read in months!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Read The book "Anybody Out There" is truly an amazing read! I was given this book and assumed that it would be a light-hearted, feel good read; one of those nothing gained, nothing lost type books. I was wrong on a few key points. The book was a feel good novel BUT it was not just a light-hearted read. Anybody Out There touches on the reality of loosing someone that you love. Marian Keyes' character Anna goes from denial to acceptance throughout the course of the book and if you have ever lost someone close to you, it is easy to quickly relate to Anna. Keyes adeptly nails the feeling of unreality that tends to follow those who have recently lost someone and outlines several methods of coping with that loss. The wonderful thing is that Keyes is able to do all this while maintaining the humour in the book. She combines all the heavy sense of loss Anna is feeling with a zany, but caring family who is trying desperately to help. So, in short the book is a feel-good novel but it has a depth that is often missing in many feel-good, quick read novels. I would highly recommend "Anybody Out There" and have loaned my copy out to friends.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unexpected We are all familiar with the "chick lit" forumula- klutzy yet lovable and attractive 20-or-30-something career girl finds love after a misadventures, guided along the way by her quirky friends. It is a tried and true formula, because it usually delivers some laughs along the way as well as some hilarious insights into our own urban 21st Century lives. But this book, Marian Keyes "Anybody Out There", is something special- its a touching account of one woman's spiritual and emotional journey disguised as "women's literature". Keyes has managed to write a book that stands on its own as genuine drama, and laced it with knee-slapping humour. I haven't read a book this complex in a long time, and certainly nothing written recently has captured my imagine the way this novel has. If you enjoyed Sophie Kinsella or Laura Wolf's books you'll enjoy this book. If you enjoyed Terms of Endearment, you'll adore this book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Marian Keyes does not disappoint I was extremely happy to find out that Marian Keyes had a new novel and even happier to discover that it did not disappoint. In typical Marian Keyes style, the novel focuses on the story of Anna but with updates on all her sisters who we have grown to know and love in other novels. It has been a long time since I was caught up with the Walsh family and their crazy antics and I was glad to discover that they are all as cooky as ever. Although I found that the novel was more of a tear-jerker than some of her others, I still laughed out loud. It is definitely a great summer read!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best read of 2006 so far Anybody Out There? had me laughing , crying and wanting more. Once you start, you won't be able to put the book down. It is the quickest 592 pages I have read. Don't let the size scare you, you will love it. Marian Keyes was unknown to me before I got this book. I now have to get her other titles. I can't wait to read some more. You won't be sorry, it's a great summer read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Will keep you reading into the wee hours of the... This is the first book that I have read by Marian Keyes and I found it to be such an easy read! I was honestly a bit overwhelmed by the size but I found that it was easy to read and hard to put down. I felt like I was watching a movie as I could vividly picture the ridiculous outfits that Anna had to wear to work, her quarky family and I was up in the wee hours of the morning keeping my husband awake with my laughter!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great read! Marian returns to the Walsh family writing Anna's - the second youngest sibling in the family - story. Although this book had a darker edge than previous "Walsh" reads there was still enough comic relief - with Helen's exploits as a P.I. and 'mammy' walsh and the dog doo drama that it wasn't too heavy. I would definitely reccommend this book to any Marian fans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from "fantastically adored" This has got to be one of the best books I have read in a long while. You get gathered in from the first few pages and ask yourself so many questions you keep reading and turning the pages wanting more! With an array of characters of all types you can not put this down (you may even know some of these people in your own social realm). An absolute show stopping book a recommended read to all those women out there who think some days they are a little bit loose in the head and for the men that want to get to know them. Fantastic!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not Just Another Chic Lit Best described as a book I just couldn't set aside, "Anybody Out There" by Marian Keyes took me by surprise. I was expectinga typical chic lit summer read, perfect for a vacation at the cottage and instead got so much more. Marian's witty style and her 'e-mail updates' between family members keeps the tone light while she unravels a poignant tale of the greiving process, a healing of the body and soul involving self-discovery, strength and an unwavering support system. "Anybody Out There' has truly whet my appetite for more of this talented writer's creations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Highly Recommend What I love about Marian Keyes' books is that you never see it coming. With many books you can gauge where the story is going and predict the path. Not so with Keyes and definitely not so with this book. I loved it, couldn't put it down. Yes, it is quite thick but the story moves quickly. A great book for lounging around this summer!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh please! Ladies...this book is just pure goodness. If you're looking for something to make you laugh out loud at how ridiculous some things can get, if you appreciate any sort of Irish humour and just want to have a good time...READ THIS BOOK. I didn't cry, and I didn't get sentimental (even though admittedly it is not as fluffy as it appears to be) it's just fantastic, like everything else she writes. Buy it!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Laughed so hard I was asked to leave the room! I haven't read a Marian Keyes before, so I didn't realize that "Anybody Out There" would be laugh out loud funny. I usually read science fiction - not chick lit - so I thought this title would be a stretch to enjoy. I starting reading it in front of the TV while my husband watched the hockey play-offs. The next day I was telling my mother-in-law about how much I was enjoying the book, and my husband jumped in with a request that I not read that book in the same room that evening during the basketball finals -- because I was laughing too much! My only consolation for being asked to leave the room is that at least I know my husband is no "feathery-stroker". In the heroine's world, a "feathery-stroker" is VERY undesirable. Read this book to find out what a "feathery-stroker" is... I should warn you that while this book is a laugh, it also tears your heart out at times. Tears did well up in my eyes in a few spots. I don't want to spoil it by telling you why. Just be careful if you are PMSing while you read it. If you are, you are guaranteed to need a tissue!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! Great beach book I received the book just before we headed to the cottage for a long weekend and I thought this is huge I will never finish it but I was wrong. It was absolutely amazing I couldn't put it down. It is definitely one of the best pieces of chick literature I have read. It was sad, gripping, funny, but mostly well-written. I was left with a feel good factor and craving for more about the Walsh Family. As this is my first Marian Keyes book I am heading to the bookstore to get another, I just can’t get enough of this family. Way to go Marian for writing such a powerful novel!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big Book That's Worth the Effort Even though this book has a serious topic, there were nights that I sat up laughing to myself because of the hilarity of the Walsh family. It's been a while since I read about this crazy Irish family but within minutes, I was reminded of how much I love Mammy Walsh and her wildly different (and often off the wall) daughters. If you've read any other the others (Rachel's Holiday, Watermelon etc.) this is a must!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I really enjoyed this book I thought that this book was excellent. I liked that the author was able to describe a woman's feelings of grief while still spinning tales around friendships and family relations. This story proved to be light-hearted and funny. i would definitely recommend this book to my friends.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another great book by Marian Keyes! I love her work and have been reading it for years. I just picked up this one and, as usual, set the rest of my life aside while I finished it! It had me laughing out loud, then five minutes later bawling my eyes out. And I'm not the type who normally cries at books or movies or what have you. I absolutely loved this book and will be recommending it to my friends, for sure. If you like her work also try Sophie Kinsella :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great summer read! Get the deck chair out, make some ice tea, and enjoy the read! This is a perfect summer reading book. I like the author's sense of humour; the Best-Job-In-the- World, her taste in men and her take on work. I will definitely be delving into another one of her books, during a quiet time at the cottage. Wake up before the kids, and enjoy a good giggle with Ms. Keyes before starting the day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Couldn't put it down! The first few chapters didn't rivit me, but once I got in to this book, I could not put it down. I started this huge book Friday morning, and finished it Monday afternoon. Each section hooked me even more. I fell in love with the characters over and over again. I laughed, cried and called my sister a thousand times to tell her how much I love her. I felt like I was on a journey with Anna throughout the entire book. When it began, I really wasn't so sure what it was about. I love how Marian leaved you guessing as to what happend to Anna at the beginning. What a shocker when I found out. I would definately recommend this book to everyone- but make sure you have the time to invest, cause I really couldn't put it down!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Great At first I was somewhat daunted by the size of Anyone Out There? but then thought…” Hey, here is my summer book—great for lazing around with by the pool or at the beach.” How wrong I was! The book didn’t last a day let alone the entire summer. I couldn’t put it down once I had started. Marian Keyes has produced a very delicately balanced novel--interweaving poignant heart-rending scenes with laugh –out- loud episodes. I now look forward to reading more about the adventures of the zany Walsh sisters and their mammy in Watermelon, Angels, and Rachel’s Vacation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loved the characters and story! This is the first book that I have read by Marian Keyes and I found it to be a fantastic read! I was a bit overwhelmed by the size but I found that it was easy to read. I loved the communication with and descriptions of Anna’s family. Keyes writing made it feel like Anna, her friends and family were part of my social circle – like I was part of their life. This is a great book for those who are in love, those who have lost a love, those who have a crazy family and those who just want a good easy read that leaves you with a good feeling. The book made me laugh, cry and sometimes just plain shake my head at how much Anna’s family reminded me of my own. I will definitely be reading more of Marian Keyes in the future.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best chick-lit since Bridget Jones appeared This book took me by surprise. I was expecting another Bridget Jones rip-off, something fun and easy reading, like Red Dress Ink books. And this was so much more. For one thing, unlike all the post-Fielding imitators, this book sounds fresh, and unselfconscious - like Bridget Jones did! For another, while it's funny and entertaining, it shows the serious side of marriage, family, and how to live a good life. If you like RDI, Harlequin Superromance, chick-lit, Shopaholic and so on, you'll like this. But if you liked The Devil Wears Prada, The Nanny Diaries, I Don't Know How She Does It, and other books, that don't just make you laugh but sometimes (if you're as corny as I am) cry a bit too - but with a great ending - then read this book. And you can't beat the price here while it's a Globe and Mail bestseller!
