After five years, tragedy brings Hannah Casey back to Hurricane Creek to bury what’s left of her family.  She’s flunking out of college, haunted by scandal, and the only person who cares is Sean Whitlow, an irresistible bad boy with a soft spot for her. The problem? He’s her dead sister’s ex.

Sean doesn’t bleed red, he bleeds motor oil. During the week, he struggles to turn his auto repair shop into a profitable business.  But when Saturday night rolls around, he’s the reigning stock-car king of the local race track.  He doesn’t know how to lose–or how to walk away and leave Hannah alone with her grief.

Between her grades and her wealthy family’s dark secrets, Hannah’s barely holding her life together.  And the last thing Sean needs is to get tangled up with another Casey girl.  As the attraction between them spins out of control, they’ll either find a love with no limits–or go up in flames.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tense and Intense I was surprised at every turn with this adult contemporary novel. The story took me on a tense and intense journey into the messy lives of characters from both sides of the tracks. The characters are well developed and not only are they believable, but they are portrayed in such a realistic manner that they could be living, breathing people in a true story and I wouldn't know the difference. The thing I found most interesting is that the story is written in the first-person narrative in the present tense. I don't often come across fiction written in present tense and I enjoyed the way it kept me constantly feeling like I was right in the moment with the characters. Sounds smells and atmosphere are so well described that I felt as if I was there. So good were the descriptions, that in several instances I could see the characters roll their eyes without having to be told that they were doing it. The carefully crafted rhythm of the narrative leads you to speed up and slow down like the timing in a melody, lending a deep level of dramatic effect to the story. Momentum builds over the course the read and it never backslides. There were frequent enough reminders that there were secrets to uncover, but they were used in perfect balance so as to keep the reader engaged without beating their eyes with them. I was so lost in this story that I felt the pain and hope of the characters the whole time. I came out of the story feeling like I got the worst sunburn ever and it had just started peeling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved it! A very deep, and sad story at times of a lonely girl, Hannah, that really draws you in. She hasn't much of a family and when she returns home to more unhappy problems she hooks up with her sister's old ex who she secretly had a crush on. The boyfriend, Sean, is a straight up guy, he adds excitement to the story and he's seriously sexy so that doesn't hurt. They start out as friends but Sean soon see's that Hannah is not the little sister any longer and feelings get evolved. I thought it was a very good start to a new series, there's some interesting secondary characters, so I'm looking forward to some future stories.
