London during the great plague of 1666 is the setting for this evocative novel. Hannah is excited to be going to London for her first visit. She intends to help her sister in her shop, The Sugared Plum, making sweetmeats for the gentry. But when Hannah arrives, her sister, Sarah, is horrified. The plague is taking hold and there is danger to rich and poor alike. Based on extensive research, the novel plunges the reader into the smells, sounds, sights-and dangers-of 17th-century London.
Mary Hooper is the author of Amy, Holly and the popular, award-winning Megan series. She lives in Hampshire, U.K.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome! I bought this book because I was bored, and I really thought it wasn't going to be good. But once I began to read it, it blewed me away! It was awsome! I learned so much about the Plague that I never knew about. Especially, I always wanted to go to London, and for this book to take place there...It was just really cool. This book is really something I never read before. It has a bit of everything...Romance, Adventure...a problem...friendships...Its just a really good book to me. So don't judge the cover, read it and see how unique it is. Can't wait to read the next one. This book as inpired me so much in writing, and it might for you too!
