about

When Alexis's little sister Kasey becomes obsessed with an antique doll, Alexis thinks she is just being her usual weird self. Things get weirder, though, when their house starts changing. Doors open and close by themselves; water boils on the unlit stove; and an unplugged air conditioner blasts cold air. Kasey is changing, too. Her blue eyes go green, she starts using old-fashioned language, and she forgets chunks of time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do Bad Girls Really Die.... Do Bad Girls Really Die Review: Pros (Good things / what I loved): •It is a great snuggle up to read book •Interesting •Mind blowing •So detailed •Once you read it you will want to read it over and over also it summarizes to a great bedtime story Cons (Bad things / what I didn’t like), and how would you improve on it (next steps): •It has magic and make believe parts •It doesn’t really have a moral •If you are afraid of the dark and you read the book at night you might get scared BODY OF REVEIW: I am writing about the book bad girls don’t die this book is probably for everyone over 10 ,it is especially recommended for people with annoying little sisters! If you have patience this is the book for you, because at the beginning you might get bored a little but keep reading and you will enjoy the book. A brief intro is just that it is a well written book it will keep you reading till the end. Alexis thought that she had an average high school life, with parents who didn't get along so well and her thirteen-year-old doll obsessed sister: Kasey. After a family fight Alexis feels a change in Kasey~ her blue eyes go green sometimes; she uses old-fashioned language; and she loses her memory for periods of time not knowing what just happened in the last 2 minutes and knowing nothing about her strange behavior. Their old house is changing to doors open and close by themselves, water boiled when the stove isn't even on and the air conditioner turns the house cold enough to see breath clouds in. At first Alexis thinks that she is just imagining it until it turns life threatening to her and the people she cares about. Alexis knows she is the only one who can stop Kasey but what if the green eyed girl isn't even Kasey anymore?............. After reading this do you want to read the book or not? I think that everyone should read this book it is a book that will keep you at the end of your seat!!!!!!!!! Rating out of 5: *****

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Creepy Fun The Good Stuff •Fast paced and spooky •Likeable heroine who reacts quite realistically •Darkly funny •Just one of those fun ghost stories that will keep you glued to the pages - & probably leave you sleeping with the lights on •Love story is cute and fun - the dialogue between the two is hilarious •Will be picking up the other two books in the series tomorrow •Fabulous opening chapter, really sets you in that spooky mind frame - I was hooked right away •Liked the bits about her photography, found it interesting and added some depth to her character •Usually not a fan of creepy doll stories -- because well -- dolls creep me out (hmm hence the first night after reading, I didn't sleep well) but I still couldn't put it down The Not So Good Stuff •parents are sorta caricatures - not useless like in many YA books, but they still do not really have any personality or place in the story •A wee bit confusing at times •Librarian was a bit of a stereotype at first - but she redeemed herself - not really for this section but just want to get across that library staff are usually really cool people - so stop with the stereotypical rule obsessed librarian caricatures Favorite Quotes/Passages "I didn't know. If only there had been a poster in the clinic: HOW TO TELL IF YOUR SIBLING IS POSSESSED BY THE DEVIL OR JUST COMPLETELY MENTAL." "The official diagnosis was psychotic schzizophrenia, and we all went along with it because the insurance company won't pay for "made friends with the wrong ghost." "The corner of Mrs Ame's mouth twisted up into an almost-smile, and she cleared her throat. This was promising - this was "My day hasn't takene a nosedive yet, so this is kind of amusing," not "I've had it up to here." When you spend as much time around the principle as I do, you get to know her idiosyncrasies." Who Should/Shouldn't Read •Perfect for ghost story lovers of all age •A good one for younger YA readers as it is scary without being gory and there is nothing inappropriate for younger readers 4 Dewey's I picked up a copy of this at the Chapters Shawnessy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than expected! When I chose this book a while back, I was skeptical about it. But I mean, once you actually get into the book, it really captures your attention and makes you want to read on! The beginning of the book, yes, it may have been a bit boring but if you try actually try to picture what the authour is describing, you will be amazed at how thoughtful and unique her images can be! Recommended if you like photography, paranormal, and strange behaviours!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from BAD VS GOOD I didn't think I'd like this book; it doesn't take much to scare me out of my wits, and I don't typically read novels dealing with ghosts and possession. But I read this one anyway. And I LOVED it. Bad Girls Don't Die is more than a ghost story. There's a touch of romance and an air of mystery, and a challenge to really get to know people before slapping a label on them and deciding you can't be friends with them--a mistake most people, including me, frequently make. Bad Girls has a well-paced, character-driven, intriguing plot that kept me turning the pages for hours when I only meant to read for minutes. Furthermore, if I had a Top 10 list of my favorite fictional people, Alexis would be on it. She's smart, funny, unafraid of getting her hands dirty, and I really enjoyed her first-person narration. On a couple side notes, Bad Girls is a pretty squeaky clean read, ghosts and all. There's no sex, drugs, or gratuitous swearing--and I really appreciated that. (The cleanliness also felt natural, which is another plus. Cleanliness can feel just as forced as "edginess".) Thank you, Katie Alender, for acknowledging that those things are not a part of every teenager's life. Also, while Bad Girls is exceptionally well put-together, the ending wrapped up a little too quickly--and awkwardly--for me. But it fit. Overall, I have no large complaints. If Twilight is a vampire book for people who don't like vampire books, Bad Girls Don't Die is a ghost story for people who don't like ghost stories.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A chilling debut! I just finished this book yesterday, this book is amazing. Katie's writing style sucked me in and the plot twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat, this is this first thriller I've read, and will not be the last. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to be entertained and scared. What a great thriller and also an adorable unexpected romance.
