The sweeping new chapter in writer James Tynion IV’s acclaimed saga—featuring a league of talented artists including Marcio Takara (THE FLASH) and Christian Duce (BATMAN AND ROBIN ETERNAL)—is here, in BATMAN: DETECTIVE COMICS VOL. 3: LEAGUE OF SHADOWS.
Batwoman, an accomplished crime-fighter who’s overcome the darkest of betrayals. Clayface, a reformed villain whose potential is eclipsed only by his astonishing powers. New heroes like Azrael, an avenging angel, and Batwing, whose incredible armor makes him a true dark knight. Led by the Batman himself, this team of guardians stands ready to protect Gotham City.
But the secrets of the team’s most mysterious member, Cassandra Cain, are about to come to light. And that light will cast a shadow darker than anything they’ve ever seen before.
They thought the League of Shadows was just a rumor—a secret society of nihilistic killers often whispered about but never seen. But now the League is here, in Gotham. They’re destroying Batman’s team one by one. And their sinister leader, Lady Shiva, has come to reclaim her daughter—or destroy her.
Can even Batman’s arch-enemy Ra’s al Ghul and his League of Assassins stop the onslaught? Or have the Shadows come to stay?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good I enjoyed the previous volumes of this series but when I got to this volume I was questioning why I really liked this series. It was ok, but I expected more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Arrow Season 3 Deja Vu????? Volume 3 lost a little bit of momentum over the previous two volumes. It seems this story arc has a deja vu feel to "Arrow" Season 3. I'm not sure if this was done intentionally or organically. Tynion does continue to develop the Gotham Knights ensemble cast with a focus on Cassie Cain in this volume. I was never a big fan of Cassie ever since her debut during No Man's Land, however this volume has made me begin to change my mind about her. The issue I have is that Cassie needs a proper heroic name than simply Orphan. The bonding of friendship between Batwing and Azrael continues to be fun to read as it reminds me of the friendship between Sheldon & Leonard in "Big Bang Theory" only without the over the top comedic elements. Artistically, Takara and Duce is pretty solid. Easter Eggs that I enjoyed in this volume includes an appearance of the Signal and the early rumblings of the Dark Days. The Detective Comics Rebirth series continues to be one of my top favourites in DC's Rebirth era.
