about

If it was still beating. Angus MacKay has been undead for almost five hundred years and it's not often something, or someone, surprises him. Until Emma Wallace. The sight of this luscious agent from the CIA's elite Stake-Out team was enough to stop Angus in his tracks. But then he discovers that she's a vampire slayer, intent on killing the "monsters" who killed her parents. And it's Angus's job to stop her.

The only good vampire is a dead vampire. It's been Emma's motto since she committed her life to the destruction of these things. Now Angus MacKay wants to convince her differently.

Sure, he's a sexy Highland warrior who seems to have stepped off the cover of a romance novel, complete with brogue, kilt, and sword, but he's also one of them. And it's her job to kill him.

The war is on, but will it end in the destruction of one or both of them . . . or in total surrender to a passion for the ages?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another great book in this series!! You just can't help but love the character's in this series. When Angus decides to go after the slayer he had no idea that is would be a woman, let alone a luscious agent of the CIA Stake Out team. Emma has been out staking vamps to get revenge for them killing her parents, but when a scottsman helps get rid of an annoying man who loves to flash his body, she is uncertain about Angus, but finds him also appealing. But when Emma and Angus are captured by the Malcontents and put in a silver room, they may have more things to worry about than the desire they feel for each other....Angus is left with no synthetic blood and he does not want to hurt Emma, so the clock is ticking for them to find a way to escape.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like my vamp in a kilt...don't know why There was a whole lot of "Ye"s, "Canna"s and "Dinna"s in this book, but once you get past learning the language you get into the story. It's a fun read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3rd in the Love at Stake Series is a Clear Winner I'm loving this paranormal romance series. Each book features a different couple and has a unique ending on how to deal with the I'm a human/You're a vampire issue that plagues so many couples in these books!! The background story about a possible war between the Good Vamps and the Malcontents runs through each book so while every romance is new, I'd read them in order if I could. This book has the previous two couples show up a couple of times as well, so you could get a little confused if you haven't been reading along. Emma Wallace has a good reason to hate vampires - they killed her parents. That is why she was so quick to sign up for the CIA's Stake Out team. But information gathering is driving her nuts - that is why she has started to stake out Central Park. But Angus McKay has to stop her or a full fledged vampire war will break out. Let's just say some other stuff breaks out!! Just the right about of humor, romance and action, I can't wait to read the next one!!
