Beautiful Bastard is rated 4.4286 out of 5 by 7.
An ambitious intern. A perfectionist executive. And a whole lot of name calling.

Whip-smart, hardworking, and on her way to an MBA, Chloe Mills has only one problem: her boss, Bennett Ryan. He’s exacting, blunt, inconsiderate—and completely irresistible. A Beautiful Bastard.

Bennett has returned to Chicago from France to take a vital role in his family’s massive media business. He never expected that the assistant who’d been helping him from abroad was the gorgeous, innocently provocative—completely infuriating—creature he now has to see every day. Despite the rumors, he’s never been one for a workplace hookup. But Chloe’s so tempting he’s willing to bend the rules—or outright smash them—if it means he can have her. All over the office

As their appetites for one another increase to a breaking point, Bennett and Chloe must decide exactly what they’re willing to lose in order to win each other.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot and steamy I loved the fact that the story line started off with a bang within the first chapter. Also the fact that Chloe wasn't just a pushover made it so much more empowering. I can't wait to read the rest of the series

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could NOT put it down! This book had me going from page one and I didn't put it down till I was done! The banter between 'Ms. Mills' and 'Mr. Ryan' was so fresh and fun not to mention the sex was hot!!! I thoroughly enjoyed how it went back and forth between what she said/he said. It's so nice to be able to see things from both perspectives. Great job! I am looking forward to the next book by this author releasing next week.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from He said / She said I surprisingly enjoyed this book! The narrative was fantastic. Alternating chapters between Bennett's perspective and Chloe's was a refreshing take on the 50 Shades formula. The "romance" was hot in this book and it didn't pretend to be something it wasn't. It wasn't a sweeping epic romance, it didn't have contracts about behavior and it lacked a good deal of the possessive/obsessiveness so constant in contemporary romance of late. This was a fresh approach to telling a rather predictable story. It grabbed me from the first chapter and I couldn't put it down. Looking forward to the sequel which appears to involve new characters, but hopefully keeps the he said/she said narrative which I think really refreshed the genre.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really enjoyed this one Chloe Mills is a young, hard-working woman going for her MBA. Bennett Ryan has just returned from France to help run his family’s media business and Chloe’s his new assistant. Except he hates her and she hates him. This book was originally fanfiction, like 50 Shades of Grey, but there’s very little the same about them. There’s no BDSM in this book and there’s a lot more sex. A lot of sex. It was rare to read a chapter that didn’t contain the two main characters doing something to each other. The sex scenes were definitely hot. Taking away the sex scenes, there is a bit of a plot. Bennett and Chloe work together every day but for reasons, they can’t stand each other. It’s kind of rom-com chick flick-esque but since I love those kind of plots, I really enjoyed the book. It was a pretty quick read but a good one. The back and forth power struggle between Bennett and Chloe was great and I really liked that Chloe didn’t simply roll over because Bennett’s her boss. They both worried about the implications if they were to be found out and hated that they enjoyed the sex so much but also really enjoyed the games they were playing for the most part. And I had fun reading them. I did have some trouble with the descriptions, especially characters’ appearances. I know it was fanfiction but I didn’t read it when it was fanfiction so other than the two main characters, I have no idea who most of the other characters were based on. There wasn’t a whole lot to go on when I tried to picture them so someone who doesn’t know it was fanfiction might also have the same trouble picturing how some of the characters look.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Novel I thought this was a great book with a solid story and characters and plenty of crazy hottness. I will say that I wish there was a bit more depth to the story, I wanted more from the characters and not just them having sex every charpter but I still really enjoyed the book. Chloe was a great character that held her own against a boss that was a jerk and Bennett was a character that you love to hate in the beginning but fall for later on. Overall this book was really good and I look forward to the next book, I really hope it continues with the same characters because I would like to see more from them. :0)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A hot hot novel Note* The story was edited again when the novel was picked up. Things about the book have changed…its been cut down a lot, so I need to read the new ARC copy I got and I will probably publish another review. (Maybe) This is SO not appropriate for younger readers. In any way. Oh, no. This is straight up for a mature audience, because there is some…ok, A LOT of mature content. Now, for those of you that are ok with adult content…this was hot. I don’t even know how to explain it. This is all love hate and they do everything angry for the majority of the story. I’m fanning myself right now. The names, however, did throw me off a bit. I know that this is fan fiction of the Twilight series, but I wasn’t a big fan of the character names. No, the main characters were not Bella and Edward, in fact, in many ways they were nothing like the main characters of Twilight other than they had an insatiable need for one another. But the other secondary characters were all there, and sometimes it threw me off. Not to mention they were more a like to their twins in the Twilight series. But….there was no Jacob. Part of me was sad and another part would have been a little put off by him coming into the story. Some of the novel was a little out of my comfort zone...I mean they are basically going at it like rabbits and at one point it felt like they had absolutely no control over it and it freaked me out. I mean when you read about falling in love and not being able to control it you think *Awe well this one almost felt like they were being controlled by an out side force and it was a little freaky, but then things started to calm down and you really started to see them in love. There was a lot of mature content and sometimes I thought it almost got in the way of the story and sometimes I knew it didn’t, it was very confusing trying to figure out how I felt about this novel. Add on top the fact that although it was 320 pages the font size was miniscule because this book felt like it was going on forever. The majority of the time the sexual scenarios, or just plain important ones, were written in one characters POV and then done again in the other’s and I felt like it did almost make the story drag on. There were also some bonus chapters that were added on in the end and I thought one was pretty important that it should not have been cut out. This novel was one wild ride and sometimes I thought it was a roller coaster hiding a good story and sometimes the story was the roller coaster, but either way I was along for the ride and it took me to new heights. Good: Chloe—she kicks butt. She sticks it to him and tells him when he is being a jerk. She is a pretty awesome powerful female. Bennett—I love how cocky he is, all the while hiding how almost fragile he seems. Also, some people may hate me for saying this, but I did not picture Robert Pattinson while reading this. Bad: This was very long, and sometimes I felt like the mature adult content outweighed the story. And the names…although I knew this was Twilight Fan Art I felt like it can be awesome all on its own. Overall (Writing style, story line, and general): Overall the story was enjoyable. The mature content was steamy, sizzling, and occasionally had me weak in the knees. Thankfully I was sitting down while I read this novel. I loved the way it opened up and I loved the love-hate relationship. I could not get enough of that part. I liked the characters; the female was no where close to being weak, but instead stood up for herself and that made me proud. It was a wild ride that I would recommend to anyone who wanted a juicy toe-curling read. View more of my review and others at my blog: www.mynotsovacantshelf.blogspot.com
