Samantha Kingston has it all: looks, popularity, the perfect boyfriend. Friday, February 12, should be just another day in her charmed life. Instead, it turns out to be her last.

The catch: Samantha still wakes up the next morning. Living the last day of her life seven times during one miraculous week, she will untangle the mystery surrounding her death—and discover the true value of everything she is in danger of losing.

With this stunning debut novel, New York Times bestselling author Lauren Oliver emerged as one of today's foremost authors of young adult fiction. Like Jay Asher's Thirteen Reasons Why and Gayle Forman's If I Stay, Before I Fall raises thought-provoking questions about love, death, and how one person's life can affect so many others.

Named to numerous state reading lists, the novel was also recognized as a Best Book of the Year by, Barnes & Noble, The Daily Beast, NPR, and Publishers Weekly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pleasantly Surprised I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this book other than a quick read with some minor enjoyment. I was definitely impressed when I didn't want to put the book down until I had finally read the ending. It is an easy read, just because of the way she wrote it, and I liked the poetic nature of it. It uses a predictable setting (reliving the same day over and over) and makes it unpredictable by using the main characters personality and emotion. Definitely recommend for a quick read, and if you understand the meaning behind it, it is sure to stick with you for some time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from If Teen Romance is Your Thing It did take a lot from other media and wasn't very original, but is an okay book. I'm glad that the ending didn't cheap out with a surprise twist, and the character development is clear. I don't normally like romance books, so the fact that I don't outright hate it is admirable. If you like teen romance books I'd recommend at least looking at it

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very Adolecent Read #plumreview A group of us read this for our book club, I don't think we realized prior to starting it that it was such a teenage story, set in high school. Basically "Mean Girls" the book, but i did enjoy the way the character changed over the course of the week. I would suggest for any girl in high school as it could be a life changing read, but for adults not so much.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Character Development, Okay Ending I got this book as a gift months ago. As it was one of those Groundhog Day style stories, (Repeating the same day over and over), I was worried it would get boring. But, the story remained interesting as I waited for the main character to learn the lesson she was meant to learn. However, the ending left me disappointed, and I'll probably put the book on my shelf and never read it again. I'll watch the movie, though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So much bette than the movie! This book was much better than the movie, especially when it came to character development. The characters are so complex and the twists are so good and unexpected! I just loved it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Memorable read with so many emotions - you'll be hooked! This is a memorable book! The premise really hooked me in - the idea that the character will relive the same day, and that this will likely reveal something interesting about her and her life. The idea isn't new, but the concept still intrigued me. I think of Before I Fall as offering three different experiences, and overall, I recommend reading it. The first third felt slow, and I even felt uncomfortable and disconnected from the characters because they are so different from who I am and how I make decisions. They didn't seem to care about other people very much. I hung in there, though, because the premise made a promise that was intriguing to me. And Lauren upholds that promise! The second third was more interesting because Sam was so unpredictable; I didn't know what she was going to do next, and I wondered what would happen, so I kept reading. The last part of the book had me hooked! I even tried to read faster, but the poetic writing doesn't lend well to skimming. I do want to mention that Lauren Oliver, like Ally Condie, writes prose in a way that is poetic, and I admire that. There are moments where I'd stop and reread a particularly poetic passage. There's a point where you realize/learn what is really going on, and it will surprise you! You'll try to rush to the end of the book, hoping that everything works out. And you'll have to read the book to find out!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from better than the movie I hate to admit that I saw the movie before I read this book but alas that is the case. While this book has been sitting on my shelf for a while I never picked it up until today. The movie was amazing and I know that the book is always better so here I go. I have to say that I did love the book more than the movie as to be expected. Great book so much happens but none of it feels rushed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of my favourites This book really puts you on a rollercoaster of emotions. I loved reading about the character's growth as a person and the things she learned on the way. The ending breaks my heart.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love and Hate Don't get me wrong, the plot is good. It's the characters that really bugged me, I couldn't relate with any of their decisions. However, that doesn't make it a bad read, its what makes a good book actually. It leaves an impression.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Book is Amazing! This is hands down one of the best books I have ever read. I didn't find the novel slow and actually found it moved at a steady pace that always kept my interest. I loved the evolution of the main character and how she grew as a person over the course of the novel. Before I Fall is a touching, heart-breaking but beautiful novel that is one you will remember long after reading it. Officially one of my all-time favourite books.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth The Read When I first started reading this book I really wasn't sure how I felt about it and the main characters really weren't doing it for me. However, I heard so many good things about this book and the overall plot line was interesting so I didn't want to give up on this book and honestly, I'm so glad I didn't. It is so insightful and really puts life into perspective and so many things we take for granted. It is seriously worth the read and if you aren't sure about it at first, KEEP READING!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing book Bought this a few months ago and I loved it. I got into the story really quickly and loved how the characters evolve. Totally recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty Good I plowed through this book pretty quickly considering I'm not the fastest reader. I found that the book started off really interesting, but as it went on it got repetitive, given the circumstances I did expect this. Other than that one negative aspect of the book, it is a great novel. It really makes you think, respect, and appreciate yourself, family, friends and others more. I love the message behind the story and how it is written.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from so so Havn't seen the movie yet but I did not enjoy the book. I found the main character unlikable and the story just seemed to drag out too long without getting to the point.
Date published: 2017-08-24
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable Took me a little bit to get into it even though I was hooked on the story. Glad I stuck to it. Really makes you think that you don't get a 2nd chance... So be the best you every minute you can!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's An Okay Book For me it took quite a while to finish the book because each pages just took sometime to register in my mind and I cannot relate at all with the story. Though each day that Sam spends her day is different, which is very interesting. I also find what is happening on each day repetitive and I got bored half way through, so that added to the days as to why it took me a while to finish the book
Date published: 2017-08-13
Rated 2 out of 5 by from couldn't get into it i couldnt get into it yet but hopefully the rest of the book is better than the first few chapters
Date published: 2017-08-12
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stick With It My sister and I are huge fans of this book. I will say that it took both of us a while to get past the first few chapters of the book because you do not connect with the main character AT ALL. But once you get past the first few chapters, the story sucks you in completely and you'll be happy you stuck it out! #plumreview

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mediocre, wanted to love I immediately bought this book after I saw the movie. The beginning was bland, but got more exciting in the middle-end section. The characters and situations are all very stereotypical, and not very accurate to current day experiences. The idea and plot line were very interesting and original, but the way it was written did not satisfy my expectations.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Book I enjoyed reading Before I Fall. It was quite boring at first but after reading it, I started getting into it more and more and the ending made me a bit upset, but mostly shocked

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good read it took me a while to get into the book but I am glad I hung in there. Makes you think about what is important in life
Date published: 2017-04-20
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just Okay It's not that it was a bad book or that I regret having read it, but it just wasn't as great as I thought it would be. When I first heard about it I found the idea very interesting because I love the movie "Groundhog Day", but when it came time to actually reading it it was too repetitive. Samantha wasn't even that likable and the ending was just a disappointment to me. I do say give it a shot -specially if you want to see the movie- but it was certainly a forgettable book for me and I wouldn't bother to reread it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh I liked the ending and concept of the book. But got tired of the days reliving. Also the concept of her and her friend's being popular and super mean without realizing it. Also didn't like some of the decisions she made. Overall not the best book or the worst. It probably depends on people's taste.
Date published: 2017-04-09
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I enjoyed most of it At first I had a hard time getting into this book. The story is told form the perspective of a girl I had very little in common with, she starts off sounding very entitled and vain, but I had to remind myself that she's supposed to be a teenager so, once I got past that it was easier to get into the book. Obviously, when a book is about the same day being relived over and over it can get a little repetitive but in the end the story is actually a good one, I enjoyed the book over all and only wished that we got to see more of what the after math was.
Date published: 2017-04-05
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Whats your damage, Heather? Sam and her friends are your typical high school Mean Girls. Twenty pages in and I was already tired of them. Maybe I'm just too old for this book. The idea of it is cool, but I thought it was terribly written. Maybe the movie will be better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A For the Lover of Books Review Number of pages: 470 Number of times read (including the time before this review): 1 Rating (out of five stars): 3 I won a signed copy of this book in an Indigo Teen Twitter giveaway, but as always my opinions are honest.             There’s nothing terribly offensive about this book. It’s your typical YA contemporary book, filled with epiphanies, drinking, and bullying. Where I take issue with this is mostly because of personal reasons, so this is going to be a very personal review. For those about to click off this review, if you like really long contemporary YA books, you are sure to like Before I Fall, so if you haven’t read it already, and you fit this description, I recommend you check it out. For those who don’t know, I was bullied from grade 1 to grade 9 (age 6-14). I also nearly committed suicide in grade 6 because of it, so you might say that I’m not really a fan of bullying. While I don’t wish any bullies (including fictional ones) any ill, I don’t exactly like them, so reading the thoughts of one wasn’t the best experience. It’s not like I learned something I didn’t already know. I know my tormentors don’t remember the insults they threw at me despite remembering them myself. I know bulling stems from the bully’s insecurities, despite it creating insecurities in the victim that would not have otherwise existed. However, knowing those things doesn’t make it hurt any less when they’re confirmed. I think the worst part is that Sam is championed for changing and becoming a better person in the end, and maybe it’s my unique point of view, but I didn’t see this epic character change. I saw the same selfish person from start to finish, she just happens to have also saved a life at the end. Sam doesn’t do what she does at the end because she became a better person; she does it to get herself into heaven. Overall, I really should not have read this book, but it still earns 3 stars out of 5.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful The book was very beautifully written and I loved how Lauren made me feel both infuriated and sad when reading the book, a concept that not everyone is able to adapt into their story and characters. Besides that, the story itself was very eye opening on the things around you and how a single action can really change a person's life.
