Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun and funny My 6 (almost 7) year old enjoyed this book for the engaging pictures, the funny dialogue and the fact he could read most of it by himself. He was giggling pretty uncontrollably and continued to talk about the book after reading it. Definitely a hit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Friendship Story Adorable tale of friendship. Bird is happy-go-lucky and Squirrel worries about everything. They make a fantastic team as they become friends in this heart-warming and hilarious adventure. James Burke has a wonderful cartoon style of squaring the characters' heads that just seems to make them more adorable. One even has a little feeling for the evil Cat by the end. I loved the contrast of the two friends with Bird seeing the bright side of everything (It's better to die together than alone) and Squirrel afraid, worried or nervous about everything new (Grasshoppers give him the heebie-jeebies). The book ends with the two flying off on a new adventure and I look forward to their antics in the next book.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So much fun! Bought this for my grandsons, ages 5 1/2 and almost-nine, who absolutely loved it, and the 3-year-old got a kick out of it too. Expressive drawings, interesting situations, hilarious dialogue. It was fun to read as an adult (another litmus test of a great kids' book) with lots of puns and layers. Loved it. Can't wait for James Burks' next graphic novel.
