Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Freaking Awesome! "Black and Blue" by Gena Showalter. Book 2 in the Otherworld Assassins series. I really enjoyed this book. The character Corbin Blue was introduced to readers in the Alien Huntress series and I'm so glad that he got his story told in this book. And Evangeline (Evie) Black is the perfect woman for him. Blue is a football star with a long list of women in his past. But not a lot of people know that Blue is also an undercover agent who will do anything to accomplish his mission, including seduction. It's part of the job and unfortunately it has given him a rather unbecoming reputation. When he and Evie are forced into working together, he can't deny the attraction he has for her. She's got a smart mouth and iritates him to no end...and that makes him want her all the more. The only problem is her father, his boss who is practically like a father to Blue himself, has told him to stay away from his daughter. Evie is determined to find out what happened to her father. His house was blown up and the only one who can help her now is Blue. She can't stand him, him and his womanizing ways. So why can't she stop thinking about him! She knows there is no way they can be together. She's not even his type. But she needs his help to find her father, so she'll just have to put up with him...for now. The emotional journey Blue and Evie go through is really heartbreaking, each thinking themselves not good enough for each other. The descriptions of the scenes are so vivid you can picture everything, some being so descriptive I got chills just thinking about it. The chemistry between Blue and Evie was just fantastic. The only think I found a little bothersome was the constant use of nicknames they were using for each other. I know that was "their thing" but sometimes I found some of the names just through me off. Other than that, the overall storyline was excellent! This story's timeline actually takes place at the same time as the first book's story is happening ("Last Kiss Goodnight"). By the end of the book, both storylines converge setting readers up for the next installment. I can't wait!
