Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best of the series Nerds absolutely rule! That’s the first thing that came to mind when I finished reading BLACK DAWN! I have read all the preceding books in the Titan series but this blows the rest of them out of the water! Parker Black is a former marine, but his true skills lay in the magic he performs with his computers. As the tech guy for the Titan Group, he is the best of the best and he’s also a force to reckon with in the underground hacker scene. As a computer geek, he sees life in black and white, which is why he has never gone after the woman he’s loved since he first met her. Lexi Dare should be over the moon about her life. Engaged, with a great job as an elite hacker and about to sell her highly sought-after program, everything is perfect. Or is it? In reality, the only thing great about her life is that she has an amazing job and is about to sell her program. Everything else is a crapshoot because Lexi is stuck in an abusive relationship that gets steadily worse, but she can’t break away because he’s the only person offering her what she has always wanted – a sense of belonging, a family. Unfortunately for Lexi, this is just the beginning. Lexi’s professional and personal lives are about fall apart spectacularly. Hunted by a terrorist organization for her revolutionary program and her exceptional skills and faced with an increasingly abusive fiancé, Lexi has only one person she can turn to for help, her fiancé’s friend Parker Black. Parker is completely out of his element when it comes to his feelings for Lexi but one thing he knows is that he will move mountains to protect Lexi and when he discovers that the hacker he’s collaborated with for a very long time and Lexi are one and the same? All bets are off! “I will kill to protect you. I will hunt what follows you … I will seek out anything that has its sights on you, and I will destroy it. I’m not a muscle hound with a hard-on for electronics. I’m a mercenary for the good guys, an analyst of life-and-death situations, and I will, I swear to Christ, maim, harm, and kill anything that wants what I care about." What’s not to love about BLACK DAWN? Parker is the perfect combo: brains and brawn, fiercely protective of Lexi and I swear I was swooning as they spoke geek stuff, even though I had no idea what they were talking about. Now, I loved Lexi and her skills, but I can’t help wondering how someone with so much confidence in her skills could stay in an abusive relationship for so long. In the end, after being shuffled around in the foster care system she wanted what everyone wants and found it in Parker and by extension, the rest of the Titan team and their families. BLACK DAWN may not have all the action of the rest of the series but it’s easily my favorite. Disclaimer: I received this book for free from the Author in exchange for an honest review. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Interesting Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian I Dig Good Books. *I received a copy of this book from Inkslinger PR in exchange for a fair and honest review.* This book was quite different for Cristin’s writing in that it was pretty dark for the first part of it. I don’t have a history of abuse but it was hard for me to read. It makes it hard to get into the story and get to the better parts, but I promise, there are better parts to come. Another pretty big difference is that this book in the series doesn’t have a lot of action as Parker and Lex are computer geniuses. So unlike the rest of the crew, they aren’t all about the guns and fighting, but rather getting into the computer tracking, disarming weapons, hacking security systems, etc. These two things made it really hard for me to get into the book which was quite disappointing as I absolutely love Cristin’s writing. Due to the non-fighting, there wasn’t much about the rest of the gang, except for snippets here and there and a bit more at the end. Looking at the story on a completely single story basis, it was a decent story. It fit Parker and Lex, which of course it should have. It showcases their life, hacking computers, databases, websites and getting paid to do so. It was based more on Parker’s personal side of things, which didn’t involve much of Titan, but rather Parker’s “darker” side of things. The story was well written and flowed nicely and had incredible detail to be able to picture the scenes envision what was going on. There were some times where I was on the edge of my seat or where my heart was breaking for Parker or Lex. There were definitely some good happy moments too. It was hard to get a good read on Lex as her character is still very withdrawn and maybe scared and it’s understandably so with what she went through in the story. Maybe we will get some more interaction with her and the girls in a future installment thought. I think this story is going to different for each person, whether you love it, like it, or it’s not for you. If any kind of abuse is a trigger for you, then I’d recommend double thinking this selection. That part is hard to read.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The dawn will come Parker Black and Lexi Dare have more than her fiance in common. Except he is abusive and she is trying to get away from him. They both have a love of computers and all things "hacker" in common too. Parker has been attracted to Lexi for some time. If she had not been engaged to his friend, he would have already asked her out. After seeing him be rough and abusive, he wants nothing to do with his friend and to only take care of Lexi. Lexi and Parker have both been hurt in the past. Neither is sure they want to have a relationship where pain can be a factor. Lexi has trouble trusting after what she has been through. Parker has many secrets and is worried about bringing her into "his world". When Parker is hired as his hacking alter ego to protect Lexi's at an auction the truth comes out. Hard to face truths come out with it. Can each forgive the other as they reach out and try to trust again? Lots of explosive action and steamy scenes make this another Titan best. This is book # 6 in the series, and the author shows no sign of slowing down. I enjoyed the characters interaction and the story keeps you seriously on your toes! I give this book a wow factor 5-5 Kitty's Paws UP! ***This ARC copy was given free from, the publisher, and its author for review purposes.
