about

BLACK MAGIC is the story of two friends who seek out and follow the dark arts together, with a terrifying outcome.

Gabrielle Margaret Vere Long (1885-1952) was a prolific British writer of romance, horror, and gothic stories.  Born into a poor and troubled family, Bowen wrote her first novel at the age of 16, the violent VIPER OF MILAN, which was initially rejected.  When it was published, the book became a bestseller and launched a prolific career.  While mostly known as Marjorie Bowen, she also published under several other pseudonyms, including Joseph Shearing, George Preedy, and Robert Paye.
