Eleisha, a vampire, is far older than she looks?and makes men yearn to care for her. Then she usually kills them, since self-preservation comes first. So when an old vampire friend kills himself, Eleisha is shocked. And what she finds in his home shows how world-weary he had become? hoarding corpses and keeping records of vampires? actual names and addresses. Now the police know who Eleisha is, and more alarmingly, what she is. But she soon realizes that being known may have its uses?even if it puts her and her kind at risk?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Eeeewwww Not what I was expecting from Barbe Hendee considering I love the Noble Dead saga she writes with J.C. Hendee. It makes me think that J.C. is the real force behind the Noble Dead.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Blood memories?????? Blood memories is the first book in a new series by barb hendee and i'm not really sure what to say about it. I liked it but didn't love it, i'll have to wait until I read the next book before I really get the whole picture of it. Eleisha clevon is a pretty little thing, she has the face of a 13 year old angel but an angel she is not she is a vampire. She was changed many years ago by a vampire named Julian, he was the son of the master of the home she worked at. When julians father became ill his mother pleaded with julian to make him like himself when he finally gave in and changed his father it was not what they expected so he changed eleisha as well since the father took such a liking to her. After eleisha was changed julian told her she must leave with his father and take care of him forever so then boarded a ship and headed to america. When they arrived they met another vampire named edward and together the three of them went to edwards hotel. Eleisha has many questions for edward like what exactly she is now and edward is appalled that julian would change her and set her loose without knowing her life now. As the years pass edward and eleisha become acustom to eachother since there are only 5 vampires left and they never stay together like the two of them. After a strange phone call from edward she goes to him home to find he has gone insane and ends up running out the front door and bursting into flames, well didn't that just attract the police! when they arrive she doesn't know what to do because the sun would be up soon so she goes to hide in the basement but the weird thing is that her physic powers are showing that one of the cops are linking minds with her adn that just never happens. When the men leave she makes a run for it but realised she made some mistakes, one is the painting in edwards den of her and the matching one dated in the 1800 in the basement, for sure they saw that and her car parked out front. So for the first time eleisha is running from the humans and the only place to go is to another vampires home in seattle. When eleisha and her charge arrive this beautiful miss maggie is not happy to see them but lets them stay and they become one happy family until the cops and the past catch up with eleisha then the pain and sorrow kicks in overdrive. There are alot of interesting characters in this story but they were only breifly told about and I must ask why was this book was stated as a paranormal ROMANCE because there was no lovin at all as in ZERO! All in all it was a pretty good book but like i said I'll have to read the next one to fully get the effect of the story. 2010-012

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not that interesting of a read I was dissappointed with this book, it sounded alot better than it was. It seemed to drag on and yet go nowhere at the same time. Some of the character's where interesting, but it's like there was a spark missing throughout the whole story. I pushed through reading this book thinking that it sets up all the character's and their stories, and the second book would be better, but the second book was just as dissappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Kept My Interest An interesting twist for the vampire genre and I kinda like how gritty this book was. It kept some of the classic vices for vampires but also added some new ones. I loved that as the sun got closer to rising they become so extremely weak and totally lost conscientiousness when it was up.. So far I haven't read a book were the author made that so pronounced and Hendee used that to her advantage. There were a few moments in this book where you were sure that the vampires wouldn't make it to safety. Plus you had the cool idea of the vampire world feeling the loss of one of their own bloodline passing. That was really neat. The history was done fantastically. You never got more then you needed and never were you bogged down with facts and trivia. When the history of a character was revealed it read like a mini book. You were shown rather then told and I love that. You got sucked into those mini's and got both the information and a better sense for the characters. This book was more drama than anything else. I enjoyed meeting the various vampires and how Eleisha used her gift (both known and unknown) to aid them. That concept was brilliant and while there isn't intense action in this book the idea that vampires have been tricked and that she could be the solution to this problem will more than likely get me to pick up the next book in this series.
