An Epic of Two Worlds

In a world as rich and real as our own, Richard Rahl and Kahlan Amnell stand against the ancient forces which besiege the New World-- forces so terrible that when last they threatened, they could only be withstood by sealing off the Old World from whence they came. Now the barrier has been breached, and the New World is again beset by their evil power.

War and treachery plague the world, and only Richard and Kahlan can save it from an armageddon of unimaginable savagery and destruction.

Terry Goodkind, author of the brilliant bestsellers Wizard's First Rule and Stone of Tears, has created his most masterful epic yet, a sumptuous feast of magic and excitement replete with the wonders of his unique fantasy vision.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This entire series is amazing ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OUT THERE IN MY OPINION. It is intriguing and dark. wonderfully written. Goodkind has this amazing way of explaining things so vividly that you can see it through his eyes. Smell the forest he is describing. An absolute must read.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from morals I have read all of this series by Terry Goodkind and find them to be a nice way to escape and relax. I've read a lot of books and yes i will agree that a lot of fanatasy's have gone with the cliche of poor person finding unknown power. however even though this is a fantasy book i find that there are morals and relevances to our everyday lives. The first is simply this that even though you may not be rich and famous you can still become great as long as you work hard. Never give up and let other share your load, plus trust others and rely on their experience as well as words of wisdom. I wold recommend this books to anyone who loves to place them selves in what they read there are amazing roles and these book really help to relax and put you in a place where all else is forgotten. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves the thrills of a good medival/ modern fanatasy read.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from average From someone who has read a good deal of fantasy, I was disappointed in this series...I read the first 3, then decided not to go further. - Good vs Evil - a peasant grows up to find they have magical abilities etc.. ...sigh, canned fantasy cliche after cliche...there is nothing new or original here. Someone looking for a fantasy epic would do better to try Tolkien, Brooks, Jordan (the first few anyway), or better yet, some Canadians like Guy Gavriel Kay, or Steven Erickson...then you'll see a little bit more intelligence in a fantasy novel...that being said though, these do move along pretty good, I did read 3 of them before discarding this series after all :-)...but it's just that it's stuff that I've read before, and it's been done better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Balance As mentioned, it has a dark quality to it- but that is balanced with the love and passion of/between the characters. There is always something happening. I can't wait for more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Mastery of the Craft Terry Goodkind has displayed a mastery of the craft of writing with the Sword of Truth series. The depth of the story, you are taken into the lives of these peoples. Each race has their own history and mythology, and each ties in completely seamlessly with the story. You could swear this wasn't written, but that it actually happened!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blood of the Fold I picked up this book by accident and I have never regretted buying it. A wonderful fantasy series that ranks high up there with The Wheels of Time. The author shows us the good and darkside of the world that Richard and Kahlan lives in. This book is full of action and adventure. It is not a book for the sqeamish. Terry Goddkind shows a more realistic view of the violence of war and the consequences of our actions. In Blood of the Fold. He tells of a religious finactic group who fight to destroy magic and the discrimination of those with magic. I strongly felt the plight of the characters, as similiar issues exist in the world we live in. I bought the rest of the series after I read this one. I would suggest this series to people who like realism and is not afaid of what it may bring.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful This book, and the 4 following it are amazing. My brother does not read SF or Fantasy, but he is reading the series for the second time, and my boyfriend is working on his third time through. The books are well written and show a lot of imagination. I highly recommend these books. Once you get into one, you can't wait to get at the next one. (I can't wait for the sixth book - due in Sept! ) Try them and you'll see what I mean.
