When a group of misfits opens a punk boozecan on Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, they fully expect to sit back and drink beer with no worries. Life is ideal, and there are no problems with local gangbangers or outlaw motorcycle club members. Well, almost none. “I’d forgotten about the quality of the clientele we will attract. At four or five in the morning, most of our guests will be drunken longshoremen, coked-up biker wannabes, wasted skaters, gangbangers on steroids, and punk rockers ripped to the tits on crystal meth. And those are just our invited guests.”

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't pass out in the boozecan! This was a fantastic book. I remember being in these place (sort of) when I was younger. And this book pretty much tells the story of what it was like. A really good read. Worth picking up for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another solid book. Boozecan is a great read, with all the chapters intersecting each other then taking the reader to the climactic finish. The chapters dedicated to Slats were incredible to read. They read just as though you were talking to a speed freak. Another solid book, 5 stars.
