BREAKING AWAY is a story of loss, healing, and love… where unexpected turns and heartache lead to passion.

To Nashville Assassins’ leading scoring center Phillip Anderson, playing hockey has always been easy… as natural as breathing. His life is no different. That’s until his world is turned upside down by the death of his sister. While mourning his loss, Phillip has to find a way to make his very angry sixteen-year-old niece, Claire, happy. Now, as her guardian, he discovers the only thing that seems to heal her lonely heart is dance class. But what he didn’t count on was the attraction he’d feel towards her drop-dead sexy dance teacher.

For Reese Allen, dancing has always been part of her soul. After having her heart broken in New York, she comes home with the determination to make her dance studio one of the best in Tennessee and succeeds. When she sees Claire dance for the first time, she knows the girl is bound for greatness and takes the troubled teen under her wing. Using dance as therapy, she suddenly finds herself bound to the young woman… and her hot-as-sin uncle.

However, Phillip and Reese are happy in their single lives. It’s simple. They do what they want, who they want, and how they want, but from the moment they meet, the attraction is undeniable. Soon, they are more than willing to spend just one night tangled in the sheets. But, one night turns into two, and two turns into three, until they find themselves in a repeated dance of “One Last Time” that has the potential to be something more… if only Reese and Claire allow it.

Can Phillip find a way to thaw the hearts of both the women in his life, or will he be forever trying to break them away from their pasts?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cant get enough! Phillip is probably my favorit character so far. He is so real and so lovable. As for this book, I thoroughly enjoyed it, as much as I enjoyed the rest of the Assassin's series! Really, I just cant get enough!! I did find that it was missing a bit of the hockey action I like so much, but all the hot sceanes more then compensated for that! Once again, thank you Toni Aleo for such a great read and I am, as always, looking forward to your next awesome book!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Breaking Away This book was amazing, the roller coaster ride of emotions this book brought out was unbelievable. One minute I was laughing, then crying & then frustrated with the characters. Reese having had her heart broken earlier can't let anyone in but Phillip starts to dig his way in. Dance teacher Reese meets a young girl who is an amazing dancer & takes her under her wing. Phillip, Claire's uncle & professional hockey player can't get enough of Reese. He agrees to a no strings attached affair with Reese that when all is said & done they can each walk away unharmed. But, things don't work that way & they both end up falling for the other. Reese can't handle it & breaks of the relationship, but then realizes her mistake. Besides the love story of Reese & Phillip there is also the strained relationship of Phillip & Claire to follow. Is it too late? Can she get Phillip to take her back? Can they have a future? Can Phillip work out his relationship with his niece Claire? Dpefinitely recommend this book & series for everyone to read, can't wait for the next one now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Addition to the Series In the rest of the series, we see Phillip act in a completely different manner than the one he does in this book. Although we do see his humour in this book and it is similar to the other books, he was also kind of an idiot who doesn't know how to shut up or when. But I found it amazing to see a caring, unsure, and serious Phillip. It was a complete 360 from the previous book and I have to say I feel sort of bad for hating Phillip in previous books. We also find more about Phillips past and his sisters death. Toni Aleo certainly portrayed the emotional mindset of Phillip in Breaking Away. Not to mention adds more depth to a previously shallow character. Then there's Reese. Again, in the other Assassin books, we've seen her portrayed in one way and in this book, we see a different Reese. The reader gets to go in more depth into her character and learn more about her. We never really knew the reason that she left New York but in Breakig Away, we see that it was because of a certain situation that took place in New York. It also explains her unwillingness to commit to a relationship. Reese goes from the witch we've thought of her to a woman burned and scared of love. It certainly made me feel bad for making snap judgements and agreeing with other characters on their assessment of her. Many of the other characters that were more on the periphery are familiar to us although we do get to see a few new faces. It was great to get to catch up with the characters we've met previously and see how thier lives are going. We also got to see how Karson is coping with having to give up Lacey even years later. I didn't enxpect that but it was great and yet at the same time made me want to cry. We can't forget to mention the hockey! I loved reading the parts about the games. Toni really made you feel lol you were watching the game live and I enjoyed it so much! Unfortunately the hockey seaso is almost done so I think I'll be reading these books again and again during the summer to make it through the off season. Thoroughout the book, I laughed, almost cried, wanted to smack some sense into Reese, Claire and Phillip and I have to say that Toni Aleo has created another marvellous addition to her series! It's well worth the money to buy this book! Find this review and many others on Reading Shy With Aly(
