about

Experience the feral passion of the Leopard people in this thrilling novel from #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan.

Bred by capricious parents for his innate leopard-shifting abilities, billionaire Jake Bannacotti has spent his life in an emotional vacuum—especially after a tragic twist of fate left him to raise his infant son alone. But when his path crosses that of an enigmatic young woman, Jake’s life takes a detour he never fathomed.

There is something irresistible about Emma Reynolds—something Jake can’t live without. Hiring her as his son’s nanny will keep her close. And warm. And under watch. She’s the first human to stir something in Jake he’s never felt before. But she may not be at all what she seems. And what’s raging between them is pure animal instinct—out of control, burning wild, and as hot as the lick of a flame.

Christine Feehan is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Carpathian series, the GhostWalker series, the Leopard series, the Shadow Riders series, and the Sea Haven novels, including the Drake Sisters series and the Sisters of the Heart series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Burning Wild After reading and absolutely loving the Dark series, I wanted to try out something else written by Christine Feehan. So I picked this series up and I was not disappointed. This series is amazing and I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The awakening Great book. Full of action, danger and romance. Kept me interested and on my nerves. The characters had great personalities with a sense of humor about themselves and other people in the book.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not My Idea Of The Perfect Hero The 3rd book in the Leopard series was Jake’s story. He was born as an experiment done by his parents who were trying to create the prefect Leopard. He spent his entire childhood being severely abused by those who were supposed to care for him. The only thing that kept him going was the promise that one day he would destroy those who hurt him. He grows up with a heart of stone never getting close to anyone. That is until the night of a horrible accident. He is left to raise a child that he never wanted. That same accident brings Emma into his life. The accident has left her a widow with a child of her own on the way. For reasons unknown, Jake is drawn to Emma and convinces her to come live with him. His plan is to trick her into loving him so that she’ll never leave; the trouble is that he begins to fall for her instead. This was a good story, but there were times when Jake’s character came off as overly controlling and creepy. Hoping the next book, “Wild Fire” will feature a male lead that’s a little less dominant.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Epic I suppose there should be a caution about this book. Be warned that severe child abuse is highly featured at the beginning of this novel. Both physically and emotionally. Without going to much into it, Burning Wild is a story about Jake and Emma. Jake is a Leopard shifter who was bred by his parents to be one the perfect Leopard shifter who could make them tons of money and supply them with even more power than they already had. They DID have a child who was powerful and could make them millions, but the moment he was born he heard them talking about him, so he decide to hide who he really is--he would not give them the power or satisfaction of knowing they things he could do. His parents were so cruel to him, that it messed him up emotionally. We can absolutely call Jake a tortured Hero. Jake saves Emma, a pregnant woman, from a burning fire after a care accident. He is drawn to her, feels a strong urge to protect her, so he manipulates her into working for him as a housekeeper and acting mother to his newborn son. Emma falls in love with Jake and they start a relationship, but it's a bit of a rocky road getting there. Those who are fans of Christine Feehan know that she writes Alpha males. Burning Wild is no exception. Jake is the ultimate Alpha male. He may actually be the most Alpha I have ever read, in any book. It goes without saying that if Alpha is not your thing, then this book is not for you. Over all the story was well done. I was glued to it, and finished the 450 page book quickly. My reason for the 3 stars is that as much as I connected with Emma, and as much as I enjoyed Jake, there were minor story inconsistencies and unanswered questions. Fortunately, Ms. Feehan is a very talented author, so as much as she head hops, leaves me with questions about this or that, and has written in cliches, the story is so engaging that I almost forget that there are things about it that bothered me. I'm sure that those of you who tend not to notice every little thing about books wont notice anything wrong with this one--I only notice them because I look for them. What I'm saying is that the issues are not 'stand out obvious',so it doesn't effect the enjoyment of the story. I can see myself picking this back up in the future and re-reading the love scenes, and I do recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good shifter story with an uber alpha male.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hot Hot Hot!!!!! This was the perfect labour day beach read! Laying in the hot sun on the beach I am surprised the book didn't ignite! Christine Feehan weaves a delgihtful tale of a man who is also a leopard. The story is good and the characters believable......

Rated 2 out of 5 by from S'okay As a CF fan, I know she's written better books out there and this one was definitely not one of them. Another book in the Leopard Series, I found the heroine rather wimpy and the hero, also lacking in strength. Yes, he's rich and powerful but that was it - there wasn't any other substance to his character. This combination made the reading rather slow and a tad boring. I also happen to really enjoy the Drake Sisters series and with the last book due out on the youngest sister, Elle, I sure hope it's not a disappointment.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Okay I love Christine Feehan, but this is not going to rank as one of my top favourite books by her. It was okay. I just couldn't get into this book and I am sorry to say that. I found the storyline slow and a bit of a stretch, meaning: Jake as powerful and wealthy as he is, I just don't understand why the waiting to get justice for the years of abuse he took at the hands of his family.
