Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great to return to the solar system I found this to be a great follow up to the first! It took what had been set up and built something even grander and better that I loved even more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great second novel in the Expanse series As intriguing as the first, this second novel carries on with excellent characters, intense action, and a deepening understanding of the mysterious protomolecule. I was highly invested and had a lot of trouble putting it down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expanse The 2nd novel in the amazing Expanse series. The introduction of Bobbie and Avarasala to the series happens here, and they add two unique viewpoints to the series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good it could be a stand alone book! After reading Leviathan Wakes I was excited to move onto the second book in the series, and I was not disappointed. Although this book can stand alone as a novel; it really is an excellent follow up to the first in the series, and I feel it would be more appreciated as such. The length of the book was honestly a bit daunting to me as a newbie in the world of science fiction, but I powered through it in 3 days. I didn't want to put it down. I really appreciated that the narrative format of the novel was kept the same (switching from character to character but always limited to a small number of characters telling their part intermittently). I also like that the characters telling the story were different than the last. It gave insight into some of the personalities in the first book that did not have that same voice. The characters are rich, imaginative, realistic and so human, they are highly relatable. I don't wish to give any spoilers, so I will just say that the progression of the story from the first installation is natural, and the introduction of new and overlapping and complimentary plot keeps the series fresh and interesting. I know not everyone is interested in books that come in series for fear that all the books will be too much alike and drag on and on. This is not the case with this series, each book so far is unique and brings a totally different feeling. I love this series so far!
