Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still as entertaining as when I first heard it as a child! I love his book! I'm now a Montessori kindergarten & preschool teacher, and can tell you that the children's reactions to this book are just as positive as when I first read or heard it as a child. It's just plain fun, especially when the children spontaneously begin to act out parts with me. I'd say it's one of the best children's books out there!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Monkey Business Caps for sale is a delightful story of a poor peddlar who desires to sell his special caps for a living. Without much success, after a busy day of walking, he rests his tired body, under the shade of big tree. Upon waking, he is alarmed to discover his caps are missing , due to some very serious monkey business. The ending is a comical display of "Monkey see, Monkey do". I teach at a preschool and every spring I act out this wonderful tale involving the children in the monkey parts. It is quite difficult walking with twenty-four caps on my head but it is manageable and the children love it so much that they ask for it to be acted out again and again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Classic and a Sure Hit! My daughter just LOVES this book. She received it as a gift when she was a little more than two years old and I was surprised how easily she chould folow the storyline. The straight-forwardness of the writing makes it easily accessable for young minds; it's an ideal first narrative for a child who is ready to break free from 'concept' books (e.g. 'opposites', 'numbers' or 'farm animals'). Caps For Sale also has long-term appeal. I remember it from my own childhood, and I have read it to 6 and 8 year olds, who have also thoroughly enjoyed the story. In short, an EXCELLENT choice for any child and a refreshing break from all the movie-character stories on the market today.

“From an old folk tale [the author] has fashioned this bright picture book, infusing it with a humor which seems to have sprung from her own hearty enjoyment of the troubles of a peddler with a band of monkeys.” (The New York Times)
