Two years ago, Jason and Kate Ryker were brought together by grief and bound to one another by love. Now married, they’re confronting their fears together.
But heartbreak finds them again, and the ties that bind Kate and Ryke are tested as she struggles against fear and sadness. As a grief counselor, Kate understands all too well the pain of her clients. And while her husband’s career as an NHL forward is at an all-time high, he’s coping with the frustration of feeling powerless as his wife's hopes slip away.
Kate’s unexpected journey sheds light on the fear that imprisons her, and reveals that only she can set herself free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet With Heat.... For those of you that have read Bound, you will love the wrap up of Ryke and Kate's story in Captive! This story took me through a roller coaster of emotions. From happiness to devastation, from hope to caution, from excitement to fear...this book has it all. Make sure you are prepared with tissues before you begin. Chances are that you will thank me about 2% into this one!! **Trying my best to not spoil...Please proceed with caution** Ryke and Kate's journey of heartbreak tests their limits, but never their love and devotion for each other. Through all the pain and trepidation, their love evolves to an even higher level. And the hotness factor? Sweet Jesus in Heaven, Brenda kicked it up a few notches with this one!! ... "Satisfying you is my job, and I take my job very seriously" ~ Ryke We meet Melody, a little girl who had endured too much in her short life. Kate is hired by Melody's foster parents as her grief counselor. Melody finds comfort in Kate and a strong bond is formed fairly quickly between the two of them. I enjoyed Kate's time with Kirk. He is a fellow counselor and friend to Kate. Although he doesn't play a big part at all in this book, I loved the friendship that the two of them shared. He is very supportive and cares for Kate's well being. Then we have Harmony....she's interesting to say the least. She definitely adds a little humor to the story. You're gonna hate Lauren....that's all I've got to say about her! Now Luke...I'm thinking I'm gonna fall madly and passionately in love with this man. We get a glimpse into who Luke is in Captive along with a promise of his story, Edge, coming in a few months. I'll be thinking of ways to bribe the author for getting him to me sooner :) Anyway, I highly recommend this book. If you haven't read Bound, you need to start there. Thanks for a perfect ending to a beautiful love story Brenda :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5 amazingly well deserved stars for this book 5 amazingly well deserved stars for this book. This the continuation of Kate and Ryke's story. While Ryke, has gotten over his loss, Kate is still reminded every day of how fragile life can be through her profession and personal experience. When the cruelty of life resurfaces, their strength as individuals and as a couple is put through the test. I love the characters of these books and the way they have developed throughout the story. Also the fact that the story and the characters are believable, adds a touch of tenderness, understanding and helps you live their lives along with them. I cried -sad and happy- tears for these two, I rejoiced when things were going their way and I even got upset a couple of times. I love the flow of the story and yes, we have a bit more of sexy times on this book, which I didn't mind at all. Along with Kate and Ryke, the secondary characters are a great addition to the story. Can't wait to read Luke's story. I LOVED this book, if the first one was good, this one is even better. I highly recommended. Don't miss on the sexy hotness that is Ryke and the sweet, loving woman that is Kate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have Tissues Handy I am in love with this series! (You MUST read Bound before delving into Captive in order to fully apprecite, and understand, this beautiful, yet heart wrenching story.) Yes, there was a point when I wanted to smack Brenda over the head with my Kindle for what happens. I mean, how much is my poor sensitive heart supposed to take!? There is heart break for sure, but by the end of Captive I realized I not only forgave her for making me sob but was grateful for the emotional journey she led me on in this novel. The entire Fire on Ice series is a MUST READ!
