In the 10 years since the first edition, knowledge of ECM function and structure has increased enormously. With judicious editing, new findings have been incorporated in the second edition without changing the format of presentation. Chapters are organized using three broad headings: what is extracellular matrix, how is it made, and what does it do for cells? Such subjects as cytoskeleton, cell shape, cell migration, and control of cell growth and differentiation require understanding of the extracellular matrix. (c) by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR.
