about

Karen Webber is in small-town hell. After her mother’s death, she moved to Corrigan Falls to live with strangers—her dad and his perfect, shiny new family—and there doesn’t seem to be room for a city girl with a chip on her shoulder. The only person who makes her feel like a real human being is Tyler MacDonald.

But Karen isn’t interested in starting something with a player. And that’s all she keeps hearing about Tyler.

Corrigan Falls is a hockey town, and Tyler’s the star player. But the viselike pressure from his father and his agent are sending him dangerously close to the edge. All people see is hockey—except Karen. Now they’ve managed to find something in each other that they both desperately need. And for the first time, Tyler is playing for keeps…

The hometown hockey hero won’t know what hit him…

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Adorable and Sweet What I Loved This book was exactly what I needed for a quick light read. It was adorable in every way. I especially loved how Canadian this book was! I don’t often read sports books. When I do it’s usually about a guy on a football team. That must be a really American thing right? Because in Canada it’s usually all about hockey. That’s partially why I loved this book! Our star athlete was a hockey player which I found way more fun! That could be because I don’t know much about football hehe. This was a shorter book but I still found it a fun read. It’s mostly a romance story but it’s also about these two kids trying to fit it and be themselves. I think the author did a great job incorporating those two elements into one story. I think the little hints of other characters lives were thrown in there at the right moments. It gave us a little break from the main story line which could have been really boring it there was only one thing going on. It was just a nice well rounded contemporary story. What I Didn't Love My only complaint would be that I wanted more. It was a short book and I just would have really, really loved for it to be a little longer. I haven’t read the rest of the series yet but it looks like we might get to see these characters in the coming books so I might get that “more” that I’m looking for. Who I'd Recommend To I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a light and easy read. It was fun and entertaining and a perfect book when I was looking for something light and easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AMAZING I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. First book I read by this author. The story was so good. It's funny, heartbreaking, and so close to real life you can't help but fall in love.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'll Keep You Warm Karen and Tyler's story has sweet and sour to it. They meet along a jogging path and become unusual friends. The squirrel helps break the ice - since Tyler saves her from could have been a nasty attack. Tyler happens to be a hometown hero who plays hockey for the local team. He also has a reputation for hanging out with puck bunnies and sleeping around. He does not want this to taint his friendship with Karen. He likes her just for the time they spend together. Karen has had a lot of emotional hits this year and they seem to keep coming. She come to live her dad for the first time. His family seems welcoming, but the kids seem upset at her presence. Karen spends a lot of time alone, or with Tyler. They are both under pressure from those around them to stop hanging out. Neither one wants to give up such a good friendship that has been created. It may turn out to be something more. Such an amazing story with real life interfering and friendship strengthening. I found the characters honest, real, and I believe what they say. The families are sure adding to the teen angst in this book. ***This ARC copy was given free from Netgalley.com and its publisher, for reviewer purposes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Amazing! This is a great YA read about two teens facing serious pressure and trouble at home. The characters are fantastic and the twists and turns in the storyline make this one great read! Loved the way the author dealt with a lot of the issues the H-h are faced with. I highly recommend this one. In a serious hockey town and a family that is counting on him, the pressure to perform well falls squarely on Tyler's shoulders. Karen Webber is new to town and doesn't know a thing about hockey so Tyler's going to have to work a bit harder to get her attention.
