The epic made simple. The miracle in the mundane.

One day, while browsing an antique store in Helena, Montana, photographer Tyler Knott Gregson stumbled upon a vintage Remington typewriter for sale. Standing up and using a page from a broken book he was buying for $2, he typed a poem without thinking, without planning, and without the ability to revise anything.

He fell in love.

Three years and almost one thousand poems later, Tyler is now known as the creator of the Typewriter Series: a striking collection of poems typed onto found scraps of paper or created via blackout method. Chasers of the Light features some of his most insightful and beautifully worded pieces of work—poems that illuminate grand gestures and small glimpses, poems that celebrate the beauty of a life spent chasing the light.
Tyler Knott Gregson is a poet, author, professional photographer, and artist who lives in the mountains of Helena, Montana. When he is not writing, he operates his photography company, Treehouse Photography, with his talented partner, Sarah Linden.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful. Physically the book is beautiful. The feel of the pages and unique layout of the typewriter series makes reading this book all the more enjoyable. As usual, some poems spoke to me more than others, but that's the beauty of poetry. I'm sure other people out there were more moved by the ones I was not and vice versa. I'd recommend this book to others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Amazing! I gave this book to my partner as a gift and also read it myself. He loved it and felt it captured his feelings in a real, novel way. As for myself, reading it helped me learn about love and how I love as the author was so skilled in his use of words, space, and the photographs he framed his poems in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tyler's Light I like the author's sensibility. Every word, every punctuation mark, felt raw to me. I like his ingenuity. Simple words, yet amazingly manipulated to bring out such intense feelings. This book is definitely a must-read for all the grand romantics out there. I super love it. It makes me want to love so much and hurt so much to the point that I have exhausted every bit of light there is inside me. And when I'm all empty, I would just close my eyes satisfied--knowing that I have given my all fearlessly. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible Oh my goodness--I've not even finished this yet but it's astounding! This man's passion, his love for words and life and, well, love itself is astounding. He brings tears to my eyes and a clench to my heart each time I think about his poems. His approach to the collection is unique, as well: the author purchased an old typewriter one day and, after composing a poem with a stray piece of paper and what ink was left in the machine, was hooked by the idea that he could write so organically, without second thought (stream of consciousness thing) and without being able to 'backspace' that he proceeded to compose this anthology on any scrap piece of paper he happened to find, the same way he wrote the first poem. He photographs his work (his other passion, it would appear, is photography) and behold. I agree with the above review that it would make a wonderful gift aside from for your personal enjoyment!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love it! Hes work is amazing, many of his poems speak to the romantic in me, while others inspire me to stay strong, and be who i want to be. As a teenager this book is perfect, its poetry, which i normally hate, approached in a different way that you don't have to untangle, it makes sense! His work is amazing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Beautiful, definitely recommend to anyone with a passion for poetry, or words in general.
Date published: 2014-11-28
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Egocentric ClapTrap! I bought this for a high school library. It is symptomatic of all that we fear in our 21st century society. Gosh, first draft poetry inspired from the fingers of a photographer on random pieces of paper. The marketers must have thought, "Yeah, we can sell this. It has a cool factor!" Except that it lacks any kind of intellectual rigor, being both superficial and egocentric. I am hoping that the average teenager will disregard it. It would be unfortunate if anyone thought this was a model on which to base his or her own poetry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful words from a beautiful soul! Tyler Knott Gregson accurately captures what it's like to gain and lose love. His words flow from his beautiful mind into the typewriter. Each poem makes you wonder the story behind it. My heart aches each time I read it. Beautifully written. I highly recommend this brilliant man's work!

Editorial Reviews

“A collection of poems that evoke consistent inspiration and lasting resonance.”—Literary Inklings“Your heart will be stoked.”—Christina Perri, singer/songwriter"Gregson is clearly a romantic... His words slip past the defenses of even the most bitter, with boarded-up hearts and cynical minds, reminding readers why we love, yearn for connection, and bare our souls."—The Hiding Spot “Like many people I know, I fell in love with Tyler Knott Gregson’s poetry via Instagram. Maybe it’s the allure of his Typewriter Series (awesome poems and quotes typed on vintage-looking parchment paper) or the fact that he posts just about every day so people always have something to see, but in the end I think it’s his raw talent for striking the chords of emotion within us that keep us coming back”—The Blonde Vegan “His Haikus inspire in their simplicity because it has become rare to find beauty in the mundane. His poems are capturing in their tone and in the way he utilizes his words. His photography is simply breathtaking, to say the least.”—The Society Cynic “There are writers and poets who just get it. Then, there are writers and poets who are so on point, you have no choice but to feel like maybe they've been reading your diary. If you're an avid Tumblr user, or just a fan of knowing you're not alone, you might be familiar with the work of Tyler Knott Gregson. Not only is Gregson a well-versed poet (pun intended) but he's also an incredible artist, photographer and has a big heart for charity.”—Buzznet “With over 30,000 Facebook fans and more than 100,000 Tumblr followers, Gregson has definitely hit a nerve with his short-yet-poignant pieces. In an age of goofy Vine videos, memes and Instagram dinner-plate photos, poetry seems an unlikely addition to the community of web shares and posts. Gregson’s poetry, though, isn’t about flashy design or snappy humor. To read the comments on his blog and Facebook pages, it’s plain to see that his words genuinely resonate with his fans.”—Elsewhere NYC “I LOVE THIS!  I follow Tyler Knott Gregson on Twitter and Tumblr. He’s amazingly talented!”—Feeding My Addiction Book Reviews “His poetry always catches me a bit off-guard and makes me reflect – which is why I like it so much. If you need a dose of romantic and moving poetry in your life, I highly recommend you follow this guy.”—Eryn Faye “I read page after page, and I hope you take the time to do the same. That way we all can tell our children, as they reads his words from their textbooks, that we were among the lucky ones who first happened upon Tyler Knott Gregson not long after his tumblr days. This man. Him and his words are remarkable. I would tip my figurative hat to you, sir, but even that seems to small of a gesture to express myself.”—Just Another Silly Dreamer“Forget having a guy quote me Shakespeare or Neruda, find me a guy who can quote Gregson. He’d have me hook, line, and sinker.”—Belle of the Library “Gregson's Chasers of the Light is a beautiful little book that will make you feel something.”—Pretty In Fiction “…gorgeous from cover to cover.”—Savvy Verse & Wit “I would give this book to anyone I'd like to convince to start reading poetry.”—Book Dilettante  “Beautifully done and a fresh and creative voice in poetry.”—Stories & Sweeties “Please read this book, especially if you’re new to poetry because it’s a great first introduction.”—I Blog, You Read “Gregson writes some of the most beautiful, romantic, and thought-provoking poetry I have ever read.”—Girls Writes Reviews “I wanted to kiss the book and place it somewhere, not just toss it into a ready to pass on pile.”—Maria’s Space “This is hands down, no doubt about it, the most beautifully written piece of work I’ve read this year.”—The Paige-Turner
