Matthew's parents are worried. At eleven, he's much too old to have an imaginary friend, yet they find him talking to and arguing with a presence that even he admits is not physically there. John Wyndham was born in 1903 in the Midlands. After leaving school, he tried his hand at several careers, including farming, law and advertising, before starting to write stories in 1925. During the war he worked as a censor in the Ministry of Information and afterwards served in the Army. The Day of The Triffids was published in 1951...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Strangely fascinating, a bit dark as well I just finished this book. I wanted to see how it compared to the Chrysalids. I didn't read it all in one go, but nevertheless, still a good read. Cool concept of so called 'imaginary friends'....
