From Our Editors

An inspiring tale of love tested by prejudice, revolution, conflicting loyalties and cultural differences, Aimee E. Liu’s Cloud Mountain chronicles the lives of a desperate couple. In 1906 California, Hope Newfield and Liang Po-yu work toward building a life together. Over the following years, as they move from San Francisco to China, the young American and her aristocratic Chinese husband must brave obstacles.
