A clash of wills . . .

Kathleen knows better than to trust a ruthless scoundrel like Devon. But the fiery attraction between them is impossible to deny—and from the first moment Devon holds her in his arms, he vows to do whatever it takes to possess her. As Kathleen finds herself yielding to his skillfully erotic seduction, only one question remains:

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was a nice read, but I expected more I really enjoy Lisa Kleypas's books but truthfully, this one was not one of my favourite. I regret to say that I was more invested in the supporting characters than the main couple. Devon was all right; he was not as memorable as other LK heroes. Kathleen was okay in the beginning but towards the end she got a bit annoying. I'll recommend this because it marks the beginning of a new series

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I liked it I've been reading Kleypas's hisfic novels for a while and when she finally released this as a part of a new series, it was an auto buy. While there's still the bits of it that I love about her writing, I felt there was something that was just missing about the heroine in this. But with that said, the set up for the supporting character's own stories were perfect and I can't wait to start Helen's story. This book was by any other means a good romance, but in reflection to what Kleypas is capable of, it was just alright.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Brought me to back to HR When I read this book when it first came out, I was experiencing a HR slump and it took a new LK HR novel to bring me back to the genre. Anything by LK is well worth reading to be honest and that includes Cold Hearted Rake.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Kleypas still delivers but still... For me Kleypas books are an automatic purchase. They don't always deliver the same impact as a full series, but sometimes there is a gem that really shines. In the Wallflowers series, Devil in Winter was hands down the winner. So I picked up this book not 100 percent sure what to expect. And as much as I love Kleypas, this book felt so lukewarm. I couldn't 100% buy into the relationship between the hero and heroine. Kleypas is such a good writer that you don't mind reading the story through, but anyone who has read a kleypas book knows when she delivers that unforgettable book and this wasn't it. For a regular romance read, this was fine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Didueheuebdnjdbd Lisa Kleypas didn't disappoint. Loved the story, and the leads. 4 stars because I can't help but think I'll like the next book better. I don't want that excerpt to end. Mr. Winterborne, I think, might find his way to my list of all time favourite rogues. May can't come fast enough.

Editorial Reviews

“Readers are introduced to the unforgettable characters and their original personalities through a delightful storyline peppered with sharp repartee and steamy sensuality. Yet it is the change in the characters’ motivations that intrigues and charms readers, moving this novel onto that special spot on readers’ keeper shelves.”
