Wildly funny, absolutely hilarious "wild west" story of the working cowboy-rancher who shipped his cattle to market, by rail, from his ranch, in Utah to the central market in Omaha, Nebraska.

This edition of the book contains all 17original illustrations, rejuvenated.

Frank Benton was a prominent cattle rancher on the Western Slope and was one of the founders of the National Western Stock Show. In 1906, he bought a house in Denver, Colorado, which became known as the Doyle-Benton House, and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, and on the Colorado Register of Historic Properties. Benton and his family owned the house until 1970.

Benton was a prolific columnist and writer. "Cowboy Life on the Sidetrack" depicts the difficulties ranchers had in sending their livestock via the Union Pacific railroad to slaughterhouses in the Midwest.
