In Debrecen, Hungary, Judy grows up in a warm and lively family, but when the Nazis invade in 1944, she is crowded into a ghetto with the other Jews in the area, her life now shaped by fear and hopelessness. Judy Weissenberg Cohen was born in Debrecen, Hungary, on September 17, 1928. After the war, she lived in the Bergen-Belsen displaced persons camp in Germany.
