about

Do you work magic with herbs? Do you use them in spells, for talismans or simply use their innate powers? If you don't have Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs, you need to get it right away. This book has become a classic in its field. Paul Beyerl, a respected author on herbs calls it " an essential reference book by students of herbalism and magick alike Scott's personable charm touches every page I highly recommend this book." And Jeanne Rose, famous author of books on herbs and developer of an herbal course says "I love books like this It is accessible, easy to read, and with its encompassing index (all too often neglected), simple to use as well." Over 200,000 people already have this book and use it frequently.
In this edition of the book (it's expanded and revised on the 15th anniversary of original publication) you will find the magical properties and folklore of over 400 herbs! You'll also find lists of herbs based on their magical powers, their genders, their planetary rulers, and more. Perhaps the most important list is the folk name cross-reference. With that information, when a recipe calls for "bramble, " you'll know it needs blackberry. Or if the magic calls for "enebro," you'll know you that is juniper.
The main part of this book is the listings of the herbs. Each one includes names, associations, and magical attributions. Violets can be used for protection, luck, love, and more. Primrose is for protection and love. Garlic is for protection, healing, exorcism, lust, and prevention of theft.
This book is considered a classic. It is probably consulted more than any other book on this subject. If you want to learn the secrets of magical herbs, this book is a must!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Book of correspondences This is a good reference book if you're looking for herbal correspondences. It's not the sort of book that's easy to sit down and read cover-to-cover; but when I'm looking for a correspondence I go back to it again and again. #plumreview

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Touches on a lot of herb lore, Cunnigham provides clear and detailed entries on the magical correspondance for herbs. However, he does not tell you where the information is coming from. So if you are looking for historical information on herb lore, it is not easy to track it in this book. Great reference for magical proposes though!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredibly Informative Another great book in Scott Cunningham's Encyclopedia series. This book has a HUGE list of herbs and provides plenty of information on properties, both metaphysical and medicinal (with emphasis on metaphysical). Each herb has an image and is marked with indicators allowing you to reference which herbs are safe for children, pregnant women, and what are safe or unsafe to ingest. I found this book to be incredibly helpful in both identifying herbs as well as informing me of their uses. Definitely recommend to those who are into metaphysical practices and want a compiled guide of herbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful tool and resource :) Like most, if not all, of Scott Cunningham's books, this one is by far one of my favourite books I have in my collection. It's extremely informative, easy to follow, and the illustrations are what really sold me. It's my number one go to book for any herbal inquiries.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from deception for me I got this book to get another take on herbs and plants, as i am already an Herbologist with the scientific background. I was hoping to connect better with the energy and essence of the plants on a spiritual level... this is not that kind of book. It is way to simplify and some information are wrong... just a big deception for me... interesting... but there better book, more in dept and soulful than this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from He's done it again! Scott Cunningham is my favourite author for all of my Wicca and Witchcraft books, and this encyclopedia proves his genius mind yet again. It is extremely handy and easy to use. I definitly recommend this book to any Witch or Wiccan...or anyone interested in herbology in general. I hate to spend money, this was worth every penny!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This isn't the "One &Only" herb book Not what I expected. True, it is loaded with lots of info on the corresponding dieties, planets & such, but I still found it lacking. I had hopes of taking this book into the woods and fields, and finding the herbs to teach myself first-hand. Sadly, all of the illustrations are hand-drawn, black & white. They give no indication of size, colour, or where in the world they grow! Save this book until you are more familiar with herbs. Also: This book should be called Encyclopedia of Herbs AND Plants. Last time I checked, banana trees, cocnut trees, cucumbers & carrots were not herbs. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing... All I can say about this man is wow! This book was such a revelation for me, simply because it opened my eyes to the possibilties of spell casting using herbs. There's so much info about the herb, what it's used for, and even the deity to call. All around great!
