Meanwhile, Han Solo and Lando Calrissian race against time to find proof of treason inside the highest Republic Council—only to discover instead a ghostly fleet of warships that could bring doom to their friends and victory to their enemies.

Yet most dangerous of all is a new Dark Jedi, risen from the ashes of a shrouded past, consumed by bitterness, and scheming to corrupt Luke Skywalker to the dark side.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great. #plumreview A fantastic expansion of the original Star Wars trilogy. We'll be lucky if Zahn's new Thrawn book is half as good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Classic Rising This book is gold! 100% pure gold. It is even better than the first. Deeper, darker; in a way it's more exciting and develops faster and smoothes out the edges of questions asked in Heir to the Empire. Amazing and recommended by the highest level.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Dark Force Rising I found this book very boring. Timothy Zahn just carried on chapter after chapter. There was hardly any action. It does NOT deserve the name Star Wars! I don't know why everyone thinks this trilogy is so good!I don't recommend it to anyone who knows and enjoys Star Wars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dark Force Rising, by Timothy Zahn I recieved this book as a Christmas gift five years ago. It was the first Star Wars novel I had ever read. It was such an excellent read that I have now purchased over sixty Star Wars novels as a result. The only four that compare to this book are Heir To The Empire, The Last Command, Specter Of The Past, and Vision Of The Future. Zahn is the undisputed Master of Star Wars literature. If you haven't read this book yet, stop reading this review right now and order it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can it get any better? I gave "Heir to Empire" five stars but the story just keeps getting better and better. It's been almost five years since I first read this series but I just have to back these up. They are the best and just get better and better as the story progresses. Eight stars!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The continuation of excellence Zahn continues to exhibit incredible brilliance in writing star wars novels. The reading gets better, the plot thickens, and you can't wait to find out how it ends. The best trilogy since the original 3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dark Force Rising In this sequel to Heir to the Empire, Zahn increases the intensity of the character interactions, while at the same time escalating the tension as the tide of war begins to turn in the Empire's favour. Excellent characterization and superb writing make this a worthy successor.
