An immortal comes to the end of a long and violent journey and finds a far more dangerous threat in this dark and thrilling novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling Carpathian series.
As brutal as the undead he hunted, executioner Zacarias De La Cruz’s savage journey is over. After a thousand years in a gray world, he has accomplished everything he set out to do. His brothers are safeguarded, and each has a woman who completes them. But with centuries as a killing machine now left to the past and without a hunt to define him, Zacarias wonders, for the first time in his life, who he really is.
The answer awaits him in the vengeance of an old enemy, in the consequences of a bloody family legacy, and in Marguarita, a woman he once saved—his lifemate, his deliverance, and the greatest risk yet to both their lives.

Christine Feehan is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Carpathian series, the GhostWalker series, the Leopard series, the Shadow Riders series, and the Sea Haven novels, including the Drake Sisters series and the Sisters of the Heart series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even the darkest one can find love I have read the entire Dark series and this one was better the second and third time. I love the unique perspective in this story. Knowing the lifemate bond begins with the female's voice and Marguarita having no voice causes me to wonder if that's part of why things are so different for Zacarias. It was a little hard for me to read in the beginning because of how he treats her. As the story unfolds it becomes clear that their situation is unique and it was well worth reading again and again

Rated 3 out of 5 by from GOOD STORY - (SPOILERS BELOW) I was waiting very patiently for this book..Zacharius's story..and was somewhat disappointed in it. This was more about how dark and shadowy Zacharius really is. There was not a lot of excitement that C.Feehan usually puts in all her books. Its a good story but would not put out the $ for hardcover..I went to the library and got it. Will definitely be getting the paperback to add to my whole collection of C.Feehan's books. I hope this is not the last we hear of Zacharius and Margarita..I don't think his story is completely told here. He is the oldest and the darkest souled of all the hunters..so he really does need someone like Margarita in his life and do think that with time he will be completly healed. I thought Margarita came off a little bit too good..if there is such a thing.. There was no magic between these two lifemates.no pizazz...and thats what makes Feehans books so compelling..The plot was very predictable but was glad to read of the death of the biggest and baddest of all the Malinov brothers. Again..that part did not have a lot of exciting manuvers, etc. Just a whole lot of ho hum..lets get this fight over with. I found the same thing with Dominic's story..just more ho hum....I sincerely hope that C.Feehan picks up her pace again in the next story... Will we finally get to hear Dimitri and Skylar's story next? Hope so. I have been waiting for their story a long time too.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Great Usually her books are amazing, but this one was not. Zacharias De La Cruz's book has been long awaited and it did not meet my expectations. I expected more for his story but the book dragged on and a lot of the content was mostly just useless ramblings to fill pages to make a book. It is her worst book yet
