about

Return to the “steamy and dreamy” (Publishers Weekly) world of Christine Feehan’s #1 New York Times bestselling Carpathian novels as thundering passions signal a dark force on the horizon...

Buried alive for hundreds of years in a volcano in South America, Dax worries that he has become the abomination that every Carpathian male fears, a victim of the insidious evil that has crept relentlessly into his mind and body over the centuries. But Dax isn’t the only one emerging from the darkness...

His name is Mitro, and he once stood by the side of the prince of the Carpathian people. Now he is the epitome of malevolence, and perpetrator of one of the most shocking killing sprees known to man. No one escaped the bloodshed, including his lifemate, Arabejila.

Now, between Dax and Mitro, a violent game has begun—one that has marked Riley Parker, the last descendent of Arabejila, as the reward.
Christine Feehan is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Carpathian series, the GhostWalker series, the Leopard series, the Shadow Riders series, and the Sea Haven novels, including the Drake Sisters series and the Sisters of the Heart series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love This Series "Dark Storm" by Christine Feehan. Book 23 in the Dark (Carpathian) Series. Totally enjoyed this book. So well written. Beautifully descriptive. Held my attention the whole time. The chemistry between the main characters, Dax and Riley, was excellent. Dax has been hunting the evil vampire Mitro for hundreds of years. Both have been trapped beneath a volcano for most of that time. Mitro's own lifemate trapped them there in order to confine Mitro so Dax would have a chance at defeating Mitro. Arabjeila has been dead for many years and now her descendants are taking her place, making sure that Mitro never leaves the volcano. But now something has changed; the volcano is active and the protection Arabjeila's descendants have provided is weakening and Mitro is on the verge of getting free. Riley has come to the Cloud People's homeland every 5 years with her mother to perform a sacred ritual supposedly to lock some evil in a volcano. Yeah right! She loves going to the place of her birth and the ritual is beautiful but she doesn't believe evil is in the volcano. But tragedy befalls the group she's travelling with and Riley can feel the changes in the earth, a gift she's inherited from her mother and ancestors alike. Now she knows there is evil and she is determined to perform the ritual to lock it back in the volcano. But is she to late? Will she be able to save her group and all the people in the area of the volcano? Can't wait to read the next installment of this series!
