‘Dating-ish’ can be read as a standalone, is a full length 100k word novel, and is book #6 in the Knitting in the City Series.

There are three things you need to know about Marie Harris: 1) She’s fed up with online dating, 2) She’s so fed up, she’s willing to forego the annoyance and consider more creative alternatives, and 3) She knows how to knit.
After the most bizarre and irritating first date in the history of humankind, Marie is looking for an alternative to men. With the help of her friends, she quickly identifies a few possibilities:
Need a cuddle? Use a professional cuddler. Need affirmation? Get yourself a life coach. Need an orgasm? Try orgasm meditation! Why does she need the hassle of a romantic partner when she can meet all her needs with paid services?
But then her irritating date resurfaces. And he’s not at all the person she thought he was. And he suggests a different—and crazier—solution to her dilemma . . .
As everyone knows (or will soon come to realize), traditional relations between humans are a thing of the past. Robots are our future. And if robots are our future, then why do we need other people at all?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Penny Reid At Her Finest! Gaaaah. This book. THIS BOOK. It made me smile, swoon, laugh, get teary-eyed and even made me feel smarter after reading it. Penny Reid writes some of the smartest characters I've read, but she has this uncanny ability of making them insanely relatable, and not like a foreign creature that us mere mortals could never understand. I’ve heard Reid herself describe this book as “weird” but frankly I thought it was incredibly refreshing, sweet, sexy and hella funny (Matt’s jokes, you guys. LOVE the nerdy puns) and if that is what defines a weird book, sign me up! And if you like the slow burn, you will love the sexual tension crackling between these two. And when they finally collide!? HOLY HOT BATMAN. Marie & Matt are just utter perfection. Seriously. She is capable, nurturing and honestly very sweet and it compliments so well with Matt’s goofy yet damaged personality. Even Matt who has been burned by the people who were supposed to love him most, couldn’t help but fall for Marie. I did as well, which was pleasantly surprising because Marie was always that other friend to me. More forgettable then the rest. Having read the other books, she never particularly stood out for me, and now I find myself wanting to go back and read every encounter with her from previous books, because how did miss her awesomeness!? I just loved Marie. Her resilience. Her inherent goodness. Also her badassery (which, again, how did I previously miss that!?). And most of all her huge heart. Seeing her fall for Matt, and trying to grapple with (what she thought) unrequited feelings was truly heart-wrenching. I just felt SO much for Marie. And Matt. And them as a couple. God, they just need to produce lots and lots of babies already. If you haven’t read the other books in this series, fret not you can definitely read this without being confused, but if you enjoy this book as much as I did I highly recommend reading the other books in the series because they are truly wonderful. Highly recommend!
