about

From the pages of Newbery Medal winner Neil Gaiman's THE SANDMAN comes fan-favorite character Death in a collection of her solo adventures!

The first story introduces the young, pale, perky, and genuinely likable Death. One day in every century, Death walks the Earth to better understand those to whom she will be the final visitor. Today is that day. As a young mortal girl named Didi, Death befriends a teenager and helps a 250-year old homeless woman find her missing heart. What follows is a sincere musing on love, life and (of course) death.

In the second story, a rising star of the music world wrestles with revealing her true sexual orientation just as her lover is lured into the realm of Death that Death herself should make an appearance. A practical, honest, and intelligent story that illuminates "the miracle of death."

Plus, Death's first appearance from the SANDMAN series, her tale from SANDMAN: ENDLESS NIGHTS, and much more!
Creator of THE SANDMAN and one of comics’ most accomplished writers, Neil Gaiman is also the New York Times best-selling author of the novels Anansi Boys, American Gods, Stardust and Coraline, as well as the short story collections M Is for Magic and Smoke and Mirrors and the multimedia creation Neverwhere. He also co-wrote the Jim Hen...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great read This is a spinoff from Gaiman's Sandman series. If you're a fan of Sandman, as most readers are, you'll enjoy this as well. It would still be good on it's own having not read Sandman, but not as great as if you had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Neil Gaiman's Death - independent of Dream If you loved Neil Gaiman's The Sandman collection, this compilation of "Death"'s stories is a must-have. I particularly love how Gaiman portrays Death not as a scary and ominous figure, but as a benevolent and misunderstood woman, capable of great compassion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal If you haven't read this book before you should go out and buy a copy. One of my favorite comics of all time. Death has a ton of personality, sprout memorable lines that will stay with you long after reading, and the stories have great art. A must own for comic fans.
